It had gone out as an announcement over a month ago, sent to every padd and station by one very excited Captain. A Halloween party! Must come in costume, must have fun!

Despite the hell that had been going on for the last few days, Kirk was determined that it still would happen. After a long discussion with the ship's quartermaster, along with a small army of crewmen who wanted to help, the largest rec room was decorated.

A huge buffet table had been prepared by the galley and sat spread out, all in Halloween theme. Green punch with floating eyeballs, cake decorated to look like a gravestone, a huge bowl of candy, a holographic severed hand that was scurrying around on the table top. There was even a bar set up with quite an expanse of liquor that had been secured on Risa.

There was a small seating area off to one corner, a huge dance floor, tables spread out for a real meal, and a small corner set up for music.

(OOC: Just like the thread with Risa... this is a party that's 'open' from now until Sunday night at midnight! Go nuts! This IS supposed to be IC, like the Risa party, so keep that in mind!)

Black leather pants, cape, white "poet" shirt. The costume could be a number of things, and Ephram looked forward to peoples' guesses. Too bad the replicator refused to make fake vampire fangs. Socializing like this would be a benefit to his mission, yes, but he also simply wanted to meet people.

Jim and Bill sauntered into the party, sharing that distinctive, purposeful stride both would have denied possessing if asked. There was something almost insufferably self-satisfied about the air around them, something delighted and smug about their smiles, as if they were sharing the funniest joke either had ever told and couldn't wait for the punchline.

Bill slipped back into the Kirkian swagger with more ease than even he had expected, wearing the uniform like a familiar skin, smirking as his eyes took in the occupants of the room, the packed table, the - was that Romulan ale?

He leaned into Jim, casually invading his personal space to murmur in his ear, "How long before someone works it out, you think?"

De arrived shortly after Jim and Bill (http://kirktastic.livejournal.com/27230.html?thread=1044574#t1044574), a bit confused really, that they seemed not to be in costume at all. Bill had just smartened himself up with a jacket and tie, and Jim, well, looked like Jim. De was sure this was meant to be a costume party.

He had made a small effort with his costume, although it was really just going back to things he was comfortable wearing, just a little more elaborate than his usual wardrobe. If he was going to be here, at the party, he would at least look like he was in the spirit of things.

As he entered, he spied a small table in the corner, unoccupied, a bit out of the way. With a small nod to Bill and Jim, he grabbed a drink, and went to sit down.

Jim tried to carefully project "Bill" as they walked up to De's table (http://kirktastic.livejournal.com/27230.html?thread=1049694#t1049694). Which basically meant toning down the captain thing, not that that was usually conscious on Jim's part. It was an interesting exercise. What was Bill, and what was him? What had Bill put on to be him, back on the show, and what did they share?

Em whistled as she walked into the rec room. She was never really one to turn down a party. She adjusted the tiara before fidgeting with the red bustier and white star spangled supposed hot pants. Most likely, no one would get the costume. But a costume was still a costume! And she couldn't help it if she peeked into her dad's heirloom comic book collection as a child. Looking around the room, she tried to find Lenny, Joanna, or even Mr. Grimm.

Ephram noticed Emma and...really approved of her costume. He made his way to her with a smile. "Hello, Ms. McCoy. It looks like you're adapting to the ship nicely."

Marlena grinned as she surveyed the other guests. She felt infinitely more comfortable in her "costume" than she did in the uniform of this universe. A thought drifted across her mind: I bet Jim would like to see me wearing this.

Speaking of whom, she spied Jim across the room, standing with the actor, Bill. She caught Jim's eye and winked...then frowned. They weren't in costume. How disappointing. She never would have thought Jim the type to fail to get into the spirit of the holiday.

Leaving Bill, at some point, to sew confusion and discord on his own, Jim strolled over to Marlena, wearing a tie and Bill's earnest expression. Marlena looked good, whatever world the outfit represented.

"Ms. Moreau," he said, inclining his head and offering her a drink.

The Enterprise kept her hologram as still as a statue in a corner of the rec room, waiting to see if anyone noticed her there, whilst observing her people as they had the opportunity to let their hair down, so to speak.

Batman had been Kevin's favorite hero since he was a kid, mostly due to the fact that he wasn't a superhero. He wasn't invincible like Superman, hadn't been bitten by a crazy spider like Spiderman. He was just a guy who decided to stand up for what was right. Riley couldn't help but admire that. He arrived at the party as the Batman from Christopher Nolan's old classic, The Dark Knight.

He looked around the room. Ugh, a bar. This would be his first party without alcohol: it'd be interesting to see how he'd do.

He squinted, trying to determine whether he was really seeing this. Was that a cat in a costume? He approached the cat and held out his hand for it to sniff. "Hello, there. Whose kitty are you?"

Alex hadn't been entirely sure he was going to go to the Halloween party. He didn't really know that many people on board and at least one of those he did, he hadn't had the best history with. He finally decided that it would be worth it to meet people and get to wear some of his clothes from home.

He stepped into the rec room with a slight jangle of his blunt spurs. He was wearing well-worn jeans, leather chaps that had the look of having actually been used, and a cowboy hat that was well cared for but had seen better days.

He looked around, hoping to see *someone* that he knew even a little.

Ephram didn't recognize the face offhand from his data of crew briefings, but the man looked about as unsure of his presence at the party as Ephram himself felt. He decided to strike up a conversation. "Hello," he murmured, "I'm not sure I've seen you on ship before, though I haven't met many people so far. Very realistic cowboy costume."

The first thing Sam did upon reaching the recreation room was grab a handful of candy and settle at one of the tables. He didn't really feel like socializing after the day he'd had, but he didn't want to disappoint his brother either.

The big pink fleshy things were massing. He had watched them put up decorations for one of their festivals and now they had begun to mass. Surely he could find the human who had taken his Tiberius.

But he needed a disguise.

After a bit of exploration he had come across a thing. The big pink fleshy things seemed to put sweet things in them. After eating his way through one of the sweet things he had his disguise.

Socks sat patiently among the other sweet things, and waited for the fleshy thing to walk past.

Demora made her way to the snack table, avoiding everyone's gaze. It gave her the strangest feeling, being here. It looked so familiar - people she knew, or at least knew at home, mingling and laughing. But they were younger, different, and not the people she knew.

She felt like the puzzle piece that didn't belong. It was so similar, eerily so, but just not where she could fit.

She squeezed the tribble in her hands lightly. She felt bad having to call him just "tribble," but insofar she had failed to come up with a proper name.

She transferred Tribble into the crook of her arm and picked up one of the cupcakes. She unwrapped it and pulled off a chunk that she placed near Tribble before taking a bite herself.

"Dunno if that's any good for you," she commented to him after she had swallowed.

Chris wheeled his way into the rec room, which fortunately didn't seem to be overly crowded yet, and got a drink of something green and toxic-looking before gazing around for a place to sit and observe. The actors were all there. Batman was holding Spock's cat. Sam was there, keying something into his communicator, but Chris opted not to sit with him - Winnie would keep away, and then who knew where George would go if he was dropping in, and...yeah. Probably best to simply stay neutral and out of the way and wait for whoever wanted to see him to come to him.

Halloween parties were supposed to be fun, weren't they?

He touched his head and grimaced. It's freezing in here. Never noticed.

Em grabbed a few pieces of candy and walked over to the man that had wheeled in. He seemed much too somber for a Halloween party. "Would you like a treat?" she asked, holding out a piece of candy.

Em caught sight of a blond man pulling someone who looked vaguely like Lenny into the room. She waved before walking over. It was either Lenny or Mr. Grimm, either way, it would be nice to see someone familiar.

Winona sighed as she came into the room. Of all the things she could have worn she chose a cheerleader outfit, sometimes she worried herself when she did these sorts of things. She looked around the room before her eyes settled on Chris. His outfit caused a small chuckle to leave her throat as she decided to wait before she joined him.

On his way to the bar, Chris ditched his empty punch cup and nabbed a handful of foil-wrapped chocolates from the table, then looked around. When he spotted Winnie through a gap in the crowd, her hair looking curlier than normal, he headed over.

"A cheerleader," he said in amused confusion, looking her up and down. She really didn't look at all old enough to have grown kids. "Interesting."

It wasn't the most creative costume, and he was a total geek for doing it, but hell, he'd barely been allowed out by his loving lovers anyway. And a doctor who became Thor was at least a little creative.

Taking in the lay of the land, he settled right on being bartender since it didn't look like there was one yet, and at least he was definitly trained for that job. Be good to have a bit of fun with that, and he knew he'd be well socialized at it. He set his cane to the side, and stood ready to mix any drink anyone could think of, tapping a padd discreetly in case there were drinks he'd forgotten, or had been newly invented since he died.

Bones headed toward the bar. There was a friendly face behind it at least...

"Give me a double of the strongest thing you've got back there, and if you laugh at me I'll hurt you bad."

Since he had come up with an idea for a Halloween party, Kirk had known what he wanted to go as. Maybe it had been a huge influence from Risa, Uhura-Nyota-getting him to sing. So he had begun to practice.

The more he looked in the mirror, though... the more he was sure it was the right choice for the party.

In the room, the quiet music that had been playing died, and a new music came on. It was pumped loud, and the room went dim.

Someone started to sing,

In a very well fitting tux, all edged in red, hair slicked back, and the traditional mask set in place on his face, Kirk stepped out into the room.

As he continued, he moved through different people, remembering how he had carefully practiced in his rooms when he had a chance and Bones wasn't there.

Though... he did make sure to walk up to Bones at the very end,

"Nice costume," Bones told him, enjoying the sight of Kirk entering the party, his old swagger back. He wondered how much of it was real and how much was Kirk bullshit. Either way, people got to see their captain, and that was what was important.

"I can't help but noticing, darlin', that I'm nearly naked here while you're covered from head to toe. That seems very wrong, Jim," he chuckled low as he stepped closer to Kirk, feeling better with a couple drinks in him.

Tina and Nyota entered the room together, a little late, but in plenty of time to enjoy the party getting into full swing. They paused just to the right of the doorway, looking around at all the decorations and costumes.

"Food, friends, or booze first?" Tina asked.

As she entered beside Tina, careful to stay at her side until she was fully used to the leather get-up, Nyota took a look around the room, at all the costumes. The familiar spirit and excitement she would feel every year rushed back to her, and she had to stop herself from bouncing on the spot. Not sensible in heels.

Slipping in the rec room, Joanna took a deep breath and slipped a semi-cheerful, slightly sultry smile on her face. She'd gone ahead and programmed last years costume into the replicator, and thus, was a tasteful hooker, sort of. Short short shorts, boots, fishnets and shirt...she wished she'd known someone she could have borrowed a kick-ass leather jacket from though. Oh well. She'd done worse costumes, and really the only two costumes she remembered how to replicate were this or a surgeon, and she'd done surgeon far too often.

She headed directly for the tables, since she wasn't quite up to dancing, not yet. Maybe after some booze she'd go dance, but not yet.

He was happy to see the doctor was staying, even if he had spent much of his time getting drunk. At least he was there when Jim showed up.

Joanna glanced around after talking to a few people and looked curiously at the peasant dressed man. Something about him...she knew she didn't know him, but something seemed familiar. Oh well, at least an unfamiliar face was nice.

Christine had nothing in her tiny closet even resembling a proper Halloween costume. She had very little other than her uniform, in fact.

However, she did the best she could, dying her hair dark and trying on an old Starfleet uniform that her quarters' previous occupant had apparently left behind.

At least it fit.

Entering the room, she glanced around, taking a moment to appreciate the decorations and the various costumes.

As he spoke with Wonder Woman, Chris happened to glance at the door, and the woman who happened to be entering. And he did a bit of a double-take.

Upon a few seconds' study he realized it wasn't her, and obviously she wouldn't be aboard the Enterprise, anyway - but the resemblance was still a little uncanny. He smiled a bit to himself, then focused back on the conversation at hand.

After her first drink, Nyota decided that she needed to eat something before getting another, and politely excused herself from the bar to wander over. "Hello Pirate," she smiled as she came up beside Leah, peering around her to look at the pies. "Pumpkin pie, so many people here are going to love you."

John slipped into the rec room quietly, sliding along the wall towards the bar. He glanced at the abundance of costumes and wild outfits, and snorted. He was dressed as he dressed everyday, white tee shirt and black fatigues.

He felt awkward enough as it was, without adding an embarrassing costume to the mix.

Having finished her rather strong drink, which was on top of the wine she and Nyota had enjoyed together while they got ready for the party, Tina fought the urge to return to the bar. She decided to wander around for a while, instead, and see who else was there and, more importantly, what they were wearing. The array of costumes was amazing, and Tina admired several very clever ones as she wandered, waving and saying hello to people she knew.

Picking up a couple glasses of whatever George was mixing up now, Bones headed toward her, almost not recognizing her in that stunning dress.

"Chapel," he called out, standing behind her, holding the drinks.

Jim had a drink, and watched Bill's antics with a rising degree (and complicated mix of) amusement, incredulity, and arousal. Did Bill really think he went around sticking his tongue, among other things, into any willing receptacle? Considering the fact it was generally well-received, he thought perhaps he ought to start. Hell, watching him, Jim was becoming sort of impressed with himself. Even more so than usual.

But the fact remained that Bill-as-Jim was scoring the most tonight, and Jim wondered if that said more about his performance-as-Bill or some innate difference between the way people saw both of them.

Or maybe it was just that he, the real Jim Kirk (or one of them), didn't actually go around kissing the entire crew of the Enterprise. And then he remembered that it was Halloween, and wandered off to start.

Sipping a drink from the bar, Christine looked around for someone she knew. Her brow furrowed in curiosity as she saw Bill standing nearby. He didn't seem to be in costume.

"Bill," she called in greeting as she walked over to him, wondering how recognizable she was in her own costume.

Okay... it hadn't been as bad as he thought it would be.

Bones would admit, the reaction from the crew to his costume had been less hysterical laughter and more overtly 'checking out his ass', and part of him thought that he might have been more comfortable with the amused laughingstock role than any other.

He leaned against one end of the bar, watching the crew having fun. He'd initially doubted Kirk's insistence that this was a good idea, but he had to admit - everyone was having a good time.

After grabbing herself a slice of pie, Nyota returned to the bar, sliding in quietly beside Bones. She didn't say anything for a moment, simply looked his costume over. Kirk, she thought to herself with a smile. Why else would he put on that?

"Well at least I'm not flashing the most skin," she laughed, sliding her plate onto the countertop. "You know you guys in Medical have very nice asses."
