[HALLOWEEN PARTY!] -- [Open to ALL PLAYERS!] -- [IC Event!]

It had gone out as an announcement over a month ago, sent to every padd and station by one very excited Captain. A Halloween party! Must come in costume, must have fun!

Despite the hell that had been going on for the last few days, Kirk was determined that it still would happen. After a long discussion with the ship's quartermaster, along with a small army of crewmen who wanted to help, the largest rec room was decorated.

A huge buffet table had been prepared by the galley and sat spread out, all in Halloween theme. Green punch with floating eyeballs, cake decorated to look like a gravestone, a huge bowl of candy, a holographic severed hand that was scurrying around on the table top. There was even a bar set up with quite an expanse of liquor that had been secured on Risa.

There was a small seating area off to one corner, a huge dance floor, tables spread out for a real meal, and a small corner set up for music.

(OOC: Just like the thread with Risa... this is a party that's 'open' from now until Sunday night at midnight! Go nuts! This IS supposed to be IC, like the Risa party, so keep that in mind!)

After Bill and Len had wandered off (http://kirktastic.livejournal.com/27230.html?thread=1158238#t1158238) to socialise more (or confuse people, in Bill's case), De had sat for some more time at the small table in the corner, finishing off his drink and just enjoying watching everything that was going on.

But then he finished his drink.

Which meant it was definitely time to get another (many things were easier with a drink in hand, and observing people, which was De's main party activity normally, anyway, was infinitely more fun with it). He noticed that George was behind the bar, and feeling a little less apprehensive than he would have done if it was someone he hadn't know, wandered over to get a new drink and say hello.

"De!" George waved at him. "How are you doing? Good to see you out here with us."

"I'm...doing better than I was the last time I saw you, I think. I'm here, at any rate. And so far, doing better than the last party I went to." De hesitated slightly before continuing, "How are you, recovering? We heard..." he trailed off. "We were worried."

"I'm glad to see that," Geroge nodded. "What can I get you? I'm doing better. We've got a new member of the not dead anymore club. She's lost her husband."

"Another...member?" De's eyes widened. "Is she - where is she from?"

He paused. "I was going to ask for a vodka and water, but I think I may need something stronger..."

"She's our Bones' mom," George answered. "Bones is real happy to have her back, I think. Wants to make sure she's taken care of. You've got the experience on losing your mate while dead, and I've the experience on coming up on a full grown kid...figure between the three of us we can muddle through this whole not dead part together."

"Don't know how much help I'm likely to be...At least you two are sort of in the correct time, and have family around. Even if that is complicated." De shook his head. "I still don't know if I'm coming or going...Christine showed me the stars. It was kinda...beautiful and terrifying at the same time. So far from home...not that there even is a home for me any more..."

"You have family too, De," George said. "As for having a home...you'll just have to come home with me, if we ever head Earthside. Dunno about everyone but we'll be heading towards Mama Pike's place. She'll adopt you, same as she did me and Winnie. That's a good earth home, and the Enterprise is a good space home."

"...are we classing Bill and Len as family, then? They're all I've got left," De thought for a moment, "...and they have always been like younger brothers. Especially Bill. He's like that annoying brother you just love anyway, no matter what he does. And Len, well, he's the brother you can just love, y'know." It was quite a speech, for De. "Earth in the future...I don't know how I feel about that. And I don't know what to call home, any more."

"Of course," George chuckled. "Family isn't necessarily just who you're blood related to, or related on paper. It's who's you consider it, and from the sounds of it, you and Len and Bill are family."

"Well, I don't know what it was like back then, but...cows moo and shit, horses neigh and are good fun to ride, cats meow, grass is green, sky is blue..."

"Sounds like Earth," De acknowledged, with a smile. "At least some things never change...It would be, well, odd, to be there. I think. But interesting, at the same time, y'know. At least with Earth...well, I would know where I was."

"You're on the Enterprise," George teased gently. "But...I never found home to be what I left, even when I was just on earth."
