[HALLOWEEN PARTY!] -- [Open to ALL PLAYERS!] -- [IC Event!]

It had gone out as an announcement over a month ago, sent to every padd and station by one very excited Captain. A Halloween party! Must come in costume, must have fun!

Despite the hell that had been going on for the last few days, Kirk was determined that it still would happen. After a long discussion with the ship's quartermaster, along with a small army of crewmen who wanted to help, the largest rec room was decorated.

A huge buffet table had been prepared by the galley and sat spread out, all in Halloween theme. Green punch with floating eyeballs, cake decorated to look like a gravestone, a huge bowl of candy, a holographic severed hand that was scurrying around on the table top. There was even a bar set up with quite an expanse of liquor that had been secured on Risa.

There was a small seating area off to one corner, a huge dance floor, tables spread out for a real meal, and a small corner set up for music.

(OOC: Just like the thread with Risa... this is a party that's 'open' from now until Sunday night at midnight! Go nuts! This IS supposed to be IC, like the Risa party, so keep that in mind!)

Joanna could hardly believe that there was an earth go to. "Wonder if we'll get there... I haven't been since I was seven."

"They have to go back sometime." He finished his cake and pushed the plate away.

"Hopefully," Joanna shook her head, still incredibly weirded out by the idea. "I haven't even spent a long time on a planet since I was fifteen. Love space."

"Space is okay for the first decade," Sam said. "But after that it just gets monotonous."

"Maybe you just haven't been on an adventurous enough ship," Joanna suggested lightly. "I've been told, repeatedly, that planetside is awesome, but...aside from leave it seems kind of boring and monotonous. That sounds jaded, doesn't it?" She laughed at herself.

Sam chuckled to himself. This girl obviously had no clue who he was.

"Planetside is fantastic. There's something great about having living ground beneath your feet."

"And earth quakes, and rain not to mention thunderstorms, hurricanes... lot of death and destruction and no way to avoid it," Joanna muttered.

"Not all planets are volcanically active... and some don't have organized weather systems," Sam pointed out. He'd always found planets to be much safer than space.

"Rain sucked," Joanna informed him. "If I wanted to take a shower, I'd not go outside to take one. Oh well. Been anywhere interesting?"

"Lots of interesting places, but none I can probably talk about in polite company," Sam said with a nod.

"Sam, I'm dressed like a hooker, what makes you think I'm polite company?" Joanna questioned him wryly.

Sam grinned. "You're also a member of Starfleet."

Joanna just looked pointedly towards the various couples, threesomes, moresomes lingering around, and sticking their tongues down each other's throats. "And this party makes you think Starfleet means polite company how?"

"They're not screwing yet," Sam noted.

"Yet bein' the key word?" Joanna snorted. "Ten creds, if I had any money, would say they're going to start before the party ends."

"But out on the floor in plain veiw?"

Sam wasn't going to make the bet anyhow. He didn't really have any legitimate credits to his name, not that he could even access the ill gotten ones without arousing suspicion.

Joanna just lifted an eyebrow. She'd seen it before. Hell, she'd been part of it before. It wouldn't surprise her in the slightest...maybe not the command staff, but more than likely a group of ensigns would get carried away."

Sam shrugged. "I'm not going to take the bet... Some people get very lonely up here in space."

"Probably smart," Joanna chuckled. "I learned never to bet except when I'm certain-sure."

"Sometimes it is worth it to bet even if you know you'll loose," Sam said, suddenly more serious.

"Well if it's a sexual favor you enjoy anyway..." Joanna said frowning confusedly.

He laughed at her confusion, but he didn't care to explain.

"That doesn't apply only in situations involving sexual favors."

"When else would you want to lose a bet?" Joanna questioned.

Sam just grinned and sipped the last of his ginger ale.

"Want some more?" he asked as he stood.

"I'd appreciate it," Joanna said. "You planning to mingle with anyone? Or are you in the boat of not really knowing that many folks too?" Well, she knew most folks here...they just didn't know her.
