[HALLOWEEN PARTY!] -- [Open to ALL PLAYERS!] -- [IC Event!]

It had gone out as an announcement over a month ago, sent to every padd and station by one very excited Captain. A Halloween party! Must come in costume, must have fun!

Despite the hell that had been going on for the last few days, Kirk was determined that it still would happen. After a long discussion with the ship's quartermaster, along with a small army of crewmen who wanted to help, the largest rec room was decorated.

A huge buffet table had been prepared by the galley and sat spread out, all in Halloween theme. Green punch with floating eyeballs, cake decorated to look like a gravestone, a huge bowl of candy, a holographic severed hand that was scurrying around on the table top. There was even a bar set up with quite an expanse of liquor that had been secured on Risa.

There was a small seating area off to one corner, a huge dance floor, tables spread out for a real meal, and a small corner set up for music.

(OOC: Just like the thread with Risa... this is a party that's 'open' from now until Sunday night at midnight! Go nuts! This IS supposed to be IC, like the Risa party, so keep that in mind!)

That's what David said. Em shook her head to clear her thoughts. "Now I don't believe that for one minute. You're a charming young man!"

He laughed, "Well, on a ship with charming and highly attractive men such as the captain, commander, and doctor, charming isn't in as high demand."

"Who said you're not attractive?" she asked honestly. "No one enjoys a good well built man anymore?"

He shrugged and tilted his head, "They seem to go more for the pretty boys. Cute little Chekovs, baby faced Kirks. I think I'm a little...Big for most ideas of attractive. I'm intimidating."

She furrowed her brow. "Who's Chekov?" And true, Kirk was adorable. "But Lenny's big. And a lot of girls were makin' eyes at him when he was in high school. I didn't go with him to freshman orientation at Ole Miss so I couldn't tell you at college." She looked at him. "I don't think you're intimidating."

He smiled at her with a soft look in his eyes, "I'm really glad to hear that. People seem to think that just cause I'm built like a football player I'm cruel. And Chekov is a little Russian with curly hair. He's pretty much the most adorable thing since puppies." Then he shook his head, "And your son is bigger than Chekov, but he's still a stick next to me."

Em raised an eyebrow. "I don't think so. Lenny's bigger now than he was back in high school." She shrugged. "Not all football players I knew were cruel. Actually, I didn't hang out with that many football players but Lenny played football in high school. So I saw the team a lot. Some were jerks but they were mostly sweet boys."

"Ma'am I believe you might be the sweetest lady I know. It's a nice change to hear that someone doesn't think I'm the big bad wolf." He growled, then laughed.

"David's a hulk of a man. And he did terrorize the hospital. But...he usually gave a damn good reason to make them cower in fear." She blinked in genuine surprise. "Is there a reason why everyone thinks you're a big, bad wolf?"

He looked embarrassed, "Umm..I may have gotten into a fist fight with the Captain the first time I met him. And I do have a tendency to be gruff with anyone making trouble."

Em chuckled. "Yeah, that'll paint a very specific picture of you in people's eyes." She looked wistful. "David always said actions speak louder than words. As long as you're bein' gruff for the right reasons, then it's ok."

"I do..." she smiled. "Er...did. More than life itself." My lovely Emmy...Emmy, I love you... "David was my husband for 20 years."

He put a supportive hand on her shoulder, "He sounds like a very smart man."

She smiled at him. "Doctors aren't normally dummies, Alex." And her doctor was her whole world. Em shook herself when she felt like she was getting wistful again. "So! When do you think you'll issue those comms?"

He rubbed his head and thought, "Well, I'll have to get it approved by the Captain first. I don' think he'll have a problem with it. So as soon as I get the approval, I'll get them out."

"Oh good. I finally got my own rooms so I should be easy to find when you pass 'em out." She nodded at the Russian spy. "I think certain people might get a kick out of it."

He laughed, "Well, if they think it's entertaining, they're more likely to carry them."

"I wouldn't see why we wouldn't carry them. It'd help keep track of everyone."
