kirktastic: ((Captain) Pay your respects.)

It had gone out as an announcement over a month ago, sent to every padd and station by one very excited Captain. A Halloween party! Must come in costume, must have fun!

Despite the hell that had been going on for the last few days, Kirk was determined that it still would happen. After a long discussion with the ship's quartermaster, along with a small army of crewmen who wanted to help, the largest rec room was decorated.

A huge buffet table had been prepared by the galley and sat spread out, all in Halloween theme. Green punch with floating eyeballs, cake decorated to look like a gravestone, a huge bowl of candy, a holographic severed hand that was scurrying around on the table top. There was even a bar set up with quite an expanse of liquor that had been secured on Risa.

There was a small seating area off to one corner, a huge dance floor, tables spread out for a real meal, and a small corner set up for music.

(OOC: Just like the thread with Risa... this is a party that's 'open' from now until Sunday night at midnight! Go nuts! This IS supposed to be IC, like the Risa party, so keep that in mind!)

Marlena's eyes lit up with mischievous delight. "Mr. Nimoy. How lovely to see you again," she greeted him. "Last time we met, if you recall, we didn't have much time to converse."

Bill chewed the inside of his cheek and looked at Leonard, a smile playing about the corners of his mouth. "No, that's right - you and Bill disappeared into my bathroom, didn't you? Marlena and I did feel a little slighted."

He held Leonard's eyes over the rim of his glass as he took a swallow of his Saurian brandy, gaze transmitting mischief.

"I'll let you pick something interesting then, surprise me?" This directed at Bill, before he turned to Marlena.

"Yes, I've been meaning to apologize for that in person. I really am terribly sorry, but Bill has a bit of a tendency to lose track of what's appropriate social behaviour at times."

Oh, this was going to be fun.

Bill manfully restrained himself from snorting. "You didn't seem to be particularly interested in correcting him, Len, I must say," he observed smoothly. He quirked an eyebrow. "Or is that what you were doing, in my bathroom? Correcting him?"

"Oh, you can rest assured, Jim," Leonard responded smoothly with a quirk of his lips, "that he was suitably punished for his infractions."

Marlena looked from one to the other, her eyes wide. It took a supreme effort to keep control over the grin that wanted to split her face in two. "Do you suppose he's learned his lesson?" she wondered. "I could...give you some pointers, if you like, to make sure the lesson sticks."

"You know, I'm not convinced he has, actually. I swear, sometimes he's just deliberately obtuse about these things." He looked at her from under his eyelashes, fighting not to grin. "And those pointers would be?"

Bill grinned, enjoying this altogether more than was probably appropriate. "Perhaps he just enjoys correction," he opined, smoothly. "In which case Marlena's pointers might definitely come in useful to you, Leonard."

"They've certainly been useful to me," she agreed. "I'd be happy to instruct you...although, some techniques require a bit more of a hands-on demonstration." Marlena managed to keep a straight face, but her eyes were dancing. "Perhaps I could tutor you and Mr. Shatner at some point." She glanced at Bill. "I'd offer the same to you, Jim, but I think you've mastered what I have to teach."

Leonard raised an eyebrow at Marlena. "What makes you think I haven't got a certain level of experise myself in this arena?"

She blinked. "I never suggested you hadn't. You just said that my pointers may come in handy; I only thought to offer what assistance I can. I certainly don't mean to malign your skills.

"Has anyone ever told you that you look just like Spock when you do that with your eyebrow?"

"There was a reason I played him, after all," Leonard smiled at her, "and really, I just wanted to make sure you didn't think me a complete novice. But an extra pair of hands always comes in useful, don't you think?"

He met Bill's eyes over the bar. "It's a shame Bill isn't around for this conversation, don't you think, Jim? Now there's no way I can know right now whether he'd be amenable to these suggestions."

Bill smiled, moving his glass in tiny circles so the liquid inside swirled golden in the light. "Oh, I don't know. This way, maybe you can surprise him?"

"I don't know..." he lowered his voice deliberately, words sliding silken ovr his lips, "He's still fairly new to all this. I wouldn't want to... overwhelm him."

Bill very manfully suppressed a shiver at the silken timbre of Leonard's voice, the way it rolled over his tongue like dark crushed velvet, warm and thick and sinfully, compellingly sensual. He wanted to swallow that voice in his mouth; bite the perfect curve of Leonard's upper lip. But that would have given the game away, and Bill wasn't ready to do that.

So instead, he only quirked an eyebrow, and said, "Bill's a big boy, Leonard. If he happened to be...disinterested...I'm sure he'd tell you so."

Marlena watched the exchange with a raised eyebrow of her own. "Or, if you like, I could ask him if he'd like to join us..." She turned away and made a show of scanning the crowd for Bill.

"I think he's busy charming the rest of the room, sadly," Leonard threw in. "So, how have you been, then, keeping busy?"

From: [identity profile] lt-moreau.livejournal.com
"He is quite charming," Marlena agreed. "It's all right, I'm sure he'll get the message about my offer somehow.

"Busy enough, yes. My work here isn't so terribly different from my work in my own universe. The main difference is that there's less of it." She smiled. "I can't say I miss the extra burden."

"More time for extracurricular activities that way, huh?"

"Indeed. Whatever else may be said about life in this universe, it's certainly been much less boring!" She gestured at the crowd. "I can't imagine ever having a party like this one back home."

Bill smiled. "No...I imagine on the ISS Enterprise, this would be a prime arena for poisoning, wouldn't it?"

Marlena nodded. "No one with any sense would leave food and drink so unguarded. Not to mention, we've hardly got time for frivolities like this...and can you imagine what would happen if it got out that a respected Starfleet officer was wandering around dressed like a comic book superhero?"
