Communication to All

Your oh so lovely Captain has reserved an entire bar for our use for our final night on Risa! You can get the position of it from the attached file. Nice little place, tucked up on the beach and right up against the waterline, full bar with everything you can imagine! I'll be seeing you all around sunset!

[OOC: This thread can run as long as we need it too, far past the 'end' of Risa Saturday night. Feel free to post anywhere, there's no order, who gives a damn about how the thread looks, just HAVE FUN!]

Spock allowed himself to feel amused at Kirk's discomfort. It wasn't an easy feat to accomplish, given that there was hardly anything that offended him and less that he didn't want to talk about that didn't overlap with his own tough subjects.

"Do not apologize, Jim. You are not 'prying'--your opinion is quite valid."

Still liked when Spock called him Jim. It was like a mini-Victory.

"Well, thanks, I think." Kirk offered a sort of lazy grin in return, "So what had you here," A gesture to the nightclub behind them, "If you didn't want to be with everyone," A point down the way where the crew's party was happening, "There?"

"The simple fact that if they or I do anything embarrassing, we will not have to face each other in the near or probable future." Another idle stir through the drink with the straw. "That is generally what happens at those functions, unless their memories have been skewed by outside forces." Like flowing alcohol and recreational drugs, neither of which Spock liked to indulge in, ignoring the mudslide he was holding in his hand at the moment. Bartenders generally didn't understand your requests when you asked for liquid chocolate or some similar derivative.

Kirk eyed Spock in silence. Bullshit, he said in his mind. There was something more, something Spock isn't telling him, but it probably isn't his place to ask. "Guess so." He said in a tone that called bullshit without saying it.

In contrast, Jim wasn't the hardest person to read, no matter the chocolate syrup and the half-bar. If it wasn't in his tone, then it was in his use of words, agreeing-but-not-really. "If you have a theory of your own, you are welcome to share it." Spock took a sip of the shake again.

"If I did, I would have said it." Kirk said with a small shrug, meaning it. He wasn't sure exactly what he was calling bullshit on, just a mental nudge that was tell--

It was one of the very few times he realized that what he had told another Spock all together was true. Intuition.

Another sip. The drink was now well on its way to the halfway mark of the tall glass. "...when I am finished with this drink," And sufficiently intoxicated. "We may both join the festivities. At the very least you should return, as the captain and host."

From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
"I'm not captain or host tonight." Kirk dismissed the thought with a hand, "Tonight, I'm just Jim. That's all I want to be. I'll be Captain tomorrow." He studied Spock in silence, the pale skin lit up by the lights from below on the boardwalk. So similar and yet so different then the very same-not-same man he had done lovely dirty things with only the night before.

He felt close to Spock, the other Spock, but this one he still felt millions of miles apart.

One indication that the chocolate was starting to affect his mind was his first thought in response to Jim's comment. Something that could quite possibly be an innuendo about how he wouldn't mind him being captain tonight--but, luckily, it died before it even got to his throat.

He eyed his hand for a moment, and then looked out towards the ocean again. In the background, he could hear snippets of other conversations, music from down below, chatter from the boardwalk. "...then what would you prefer to do, as Jim?"

From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
A lot of answers came to mind, 99% of them inappropriate. Jim hesitated before choosing one with a small grin, "How 'bout taking a walk? It's out last night on Risa, and who knows how long it'll be before I get to be at the ocean again."

For him, he had not drank all that much, but he was definitely feeling the edges of its affects. The loose, light headed, generally good feeling.

From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
He took a drink through the straw, a long one, because there was an uncomfortable feeling in his stomach not born out of the alcohol or the chocolate, and the cold of the ice cream worked like a soothing balm. When he was done, the drink was all but done, whipped cream and chocolate syrup residue clinging to the sides of the glass with just a small bit left at the bottom. Spock left it that way to avoid the indignity of sucking air through the straw and that childish noise it made. The glass chinked as he set it aside on the bench, and he looked over to Jim.

"Let us walk."

Ridiculously pleased that Spock agreed, Kirk stood up, slammed back the rest of his drink, and put it down. "Come on, I saw the beach beyond the bar's basically empty." He gave Spock a look, one that some people might have called 'come hither', then grinned before walking through the crowd back to the stairs, and out into the night air properly.

Rather grateful that the floor hadn't started to move like it did the last time he had consumed an entire milkshake in less than an hour, Spock followed him out. He, not for the first time this evening, wished he had brought his one of his coats with him, though the lingering cool of the evening on the beach was tolerable, for now.

The walk to the beach was enough to make him question his decision, regardless of whether it was over and done with. The sand shifting under his shoes seemed to bring to life the shaky ground he always felt he was treading on with Jim, a reluctant inner acknowledgment not helped by the fact Jim was right there, looking friendly and oblivious and too utterly human.

At least, he also noticed, the walk was putting the tourists and the crew behind them. Spock could hear the surf hitting the shore.

Date: 2009-08-27 10:25 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
The roll of the ocean made his nerves calm. Kirk stopped only long enough to remove his sneakers and socks, tucking them off to the side so he could pick them up later. He wriggled his toes in the sand, then grinned to Spock before walking along again. "Like the feel of it." The wet sand was still warm under his feet.

He walked along beside Spock, shoving his hands into his pockets as they walked along the shore. "...last night before we return to the ship. To our duties, to the stars." Not said in a sad way, but definitely excited.

Date: 2009-08-27 10:49 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
Spock had no preference for the feel of the sand or not, so he kept his shoes on and stayed out of the water. His hands folded neatly behind his back as he walked with Jim. "Was this leave adequate for you?"

Date: 2009-08-27 11:01 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
A tiny smirk, "More then adequate. I think we all needed this. Just.. a chance to get to know the new people on the ship and for them to get adjusted... people to have fun."

To get my mind fucked out of me. Kirk smirked to himself.

Date: 2009-08-28 03:23 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
Fun. He knew exactly what kind of 'fun' Jim had indulged in and he had almost, almost pushed it from his mind before he brought up again. And looking immensely pleased, too. "...of course," He said slowly, barely a breath of a pause between the two syllables.

Date: 2009-08-28 03:26 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
A glance over at Spock's tone, blinking a little, "...Something wrong, Spock?" He asked a bit unsurely, not understanding the slight change that meant a big one in terms of Vulcans.

Date: 2009-08-28 03:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
He pondered, staring into the sand, whether or not he should allude to his knowledge of Jim's escapades, whether it would throw him off completely or entice him (and then proceeded to question which result he would prefer, and subsequently berated himself mentally). With a glance back at him, "I have ingested more chocolate than I am accustomed to," It wasn't an outright lie. "Pardon any falter of mine as a consequence of that."

Date: 2009-08-28 03:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
"How much did you have tonight?" So it was true! Spock... Vulcans got inebriated by chocolate! His eyes went wide for a moment as he realized just what that meant. The dream... it was true. It had happened.

Date: 2009-08-28 03:55 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
His thoughts wandered to the half-bar still left in his pocket. "Approximately twenty grams, before you had given me that drink." The last word had its own skepticism; it was still a dessert crammed into a glass and topped with whipped cream.

Date: 2009-08-28 04:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
Kirk had no idea how to calculate that in terms of drunkenness. "Is that a lot for a Vulcan?" He questioned, glancing to Spock unsurely.

Date: 2009-08-28 04:36 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
Jim's ignorance would probably be better for Spock in this position, but that would involve some conversation directing he really didn't want to orchestrate at the moment. "Any chocolate may be considered too much, depending on whose opinion you request. A standard bar of sixty-percent cacao, forty grams," He brought his hands forward to show the general size between two index fingers. "Is akin to two chocolate milkshakes in a standard San Francisco diner, which is, in turn, similar to three pints of an average-strength North American beer on the human digestive system." This, too, was accompanied by its own size motions.

"So, if you were to compare, about one and a half pints," A glance over to him again. "Though with your resistance, in terms of effects."

Date: 2009-08-28 11:27 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
Only Spock would be so damned complicated about it. Kirk followed the logic for a moment, then snorted a little, "A pint and a half is barely anything." Damn, you'd have to pour chocolate straight down Spock's veins for him to get actually drunk Kirk thought. "So not bad."

He looked down and stopped in his walk, kneeling down. He grinned a little and dusted something buried a bit in the hand, digging it out with his fingertips. Finally he pulled out a large shell, surprisingly in tact except for a bit of a nick at the edge, then straightened up. He turned it over in his hands, checking the inside of it to make sure it wasn't home to anything, then held it up to his ear. The roar of the ocean became louder.

Date: 2009-08-28 03:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
"That was before you gave me that drink." And he would just leave it in the air for Jim on guessing just how much chocolate was in it, and the difference in concentrations between Risan and Terran chocolate syrups.

Spock tilted his head slightly to the side as he watched Jim dig out this shell, and then do something rather absurd with it. "What are you doing?"
