Communication to All

Your oh so lovely Captain has reserved an entire bar for our use for our final night on Risa! You can get the position of it from the attached file. Nice little place, tucked up on the beach and right up against the waterline, full bar with everything you can imagine! I'll be seeing you all around sunset!

[OOC: This thread can run as long as we need it too, far past the 'end' of Risa Saturday night. Feel free to post anywhere, there's no order, who gives a damn about how the thread looks, just HAVE FUN!]

It was different then melding. Melding was intimate, immediate and hot and together, but this... was intimate in a different way. He knew that now, thanks to the other Spock. This Spock.. was basically letting him get to first base.

"...okay." Said in a still unsure tone, but.. pleased.

This could be counted as a victory, in the scheme of things. Their hands were still together, fitting neatly into the groove of each, and their shoulders were almost-but-not touching. The night was pleasant, quiet except for the ocean...

"...soon, you should be able to guard your thoughts from this contact. It is not too difficult."

"...I'm gonna need it, as a captain." He tilted his eyes down to their hands, and just smirked, very slightly. He slowly rubbed his thumb over Spock's hand, wishing he could understand Spock and what the hell was going on in his head. "...Let me try it?" He tilted his head, not even believing himself that he was saying it.

"I mean.." His words left him, as they rarely did. ...wanna feel how it does with him. The meld.

He looked over at Jim with obvious surprise, both at the motion on his hand and the words. It was enough to let his barriers slip, just once and very briefly, Why?tookindtoowillingblueeyesnicesmileandjimmaybe--. Coherent, but just fast, lightning flashes of thought and surface reasoning.

"If you wanted to--perhaps we should do so in a safer location?" His other hand gestured to the vertical drop around them.

The thoughts came too fast to piece out fully, so Kirk just blinked for a moment as he tried to think it through. A part of him was just amazed that he had shocked Spock. "...let's back up a bit?" He looked over his shoulder to the nice flat surface at the top of the hill, just the palm trees and some low grasses.

Why was he doing this? Why had he asked?

Spock nodded once, and slid his hand from Jim's, his hot fingertips trailing off the edge of the palm. He moved back, getting to his feet just long enough to get away from the edge under the curving palm trees. Sitting cross-legged, he motioned silently for Jim to sit in front of him.

He wasn't Vulcan, but that didn't stop Kirk from shivering as those fingers played over his palm. Was ... Spock playing with him? He blinked at Spock, letting out a breath before following. He slowly sat down in front of Spock, realizing he might have been in over his head. "...just talk to me about what you're doing."

"Our minds will join, though interaction will be limited to my side for the time being, so that we may compare it to your mind later. There will be no transfer of memories, no bond formation," Though he could practically feel that red-god thread-but-more pulsing strongly between them, just like that night. "... and no instruction. We are simply getting acquainted, and you are becoming accustomed to the process of melding." Just friends?

Kirk gave Spock a long look, then said cautiously, "...I'm warning you right now, I'm not to blame for what's going on in my head." He had no idea what might pop up, honestly, good, bad, or porny.

He took a breath, then gestured, "...all yours." He held up his fingers in a bad rendition of a familiar pattern. "Face me."

Spock may or may not have been smirking at Jim's horrible imitation of the meld hand positioned. His own hands came up to fix this immediately, sliding light touches between Jim's fingers, widening the spaces, thumbs pressing into the palm as the bend of his knuckles was corrected into a better position.

"This may feel uncomfortable at first," He said as he did this, though didn't sound very apologetic. "Though you have adequate hands, and they should span between the meld points without trouble."

It dropped from Kirk's mind what this might have been between Vulcans as he concentrated on what was happening. His brow furrowed as he concentrated on getting it right. "It's just a little awkward when you're not used to it..." He muttered, wriggling his fingers before trying to mirror the position again.

"So what exactly are the meld points?" He questioned, looking to Spock's face as if trying to see the invisible points.

Date: 2009-08-29 04:57 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
"They are the points where the chemistry of your nervous system may be most easily altered with the least pressure. The meld still contains a physical element, though it may not feel as such."

The hand now in its proper position, or near enough for their purposes, Spock brought it to touch his face, his eyes locked with Jim's while he did so. Then he brought his own hand up to Jim's face, his fingers smoothly finding and pressing into the meld points with ease. The electricity already tingled beneath his fingers before he uttered the ritual phrase,

"Wanimo kae k'yanimo kae." Vulcan. As if the experience couldn't be anymore foreign to Jim without him using it.

His mind was, unsurprisingly, not too different from that of his counterpart's. Corridors and doors that all looked the same and curved off into the distance, vaulted ceilings and dark stone walls. Yet, here, in this meld, Spock was not hidden in the recesses of his mind, but standing right there next to Jim in this wide hallway.

The image of him flickered between several uniforms, something with a grey-white long-sleeved shirt, the black uniform he wore at the Academy, the blue-black uniform he wore on the ship...and then settled on the all-black, the collar done up properly, the fabric pressed and ready for the day of dealing with cadets and bureaucracy. Spock looked down at himself, pulling at the top jacket slightly. "Still." There was some mild disappointment, either in his voice or radiating from the world around them.

A bit of a shaking breath left Kirk as his fingers came into contact with Spock's face, the incredibly warm flesh against his fingertips. It only increased to a definite tingle as Spock mirrored him, their eyes staring into each other.

Then those words. Then, the rush.

That rush was something he was starting to get used to in a weird sort of way. Falling simultaneously away from and into his body, then appearing somewhere. At least this was somewhat familiar.

Like Spock, Kirk appeared in very different clothing. It was an odd mixture that somehow looked right on him like it would on no one else. Jeans, the gold-over-black of the captain's uniform, and a leather jacket. Kirk blinked slowly, looking to Spock, and swallowed. Shit, that black looked good on the Vulcan. Instructors uniform?

Yes. Spock cast an appraising look over Jim's odd outfit, noting the jacket and the command gold, and may have been smirking again. Not so much the expression on his face (though there was that), but just the general feel of the area, the press of proto-emotions and smug appreciation in the air.

Shall we walk? He motioned forward to the long corridor extending in front of them.

Unsurprisingly kind of boring in here. Kirk grinned just a little before nodding. He walked along with Spock, trying to figure out what that odd sense of smugness was about.

Of course he didn't glance out of the corner of his eye at Spock in that well fitted surprisingly tight instructor's uniform. Nope, not at all.

Why does my mind have to be decorated with the fantastical when reality is already distracting as it is? Though the same emotional press was still around them, it was dialed down slightly to be less distraction against his vocalized thoughts. He knew, of course, that Jim was looking at him, as he was aware of anything and everything that happened in his mind. Jim wasn't exactly being subtle about it, either.

The doors they walked by were all labeled, sometimes with several names that went down the length of the door and--if one stared hard enough at it--these also tended to change.

Somehow I just doubt my mind is anything like this. Kirk muttered, slowing just a step to get a nice look at Spock's ass. He grinned to himself and pulled his eyes away, almost okay with this. It was fucking weird to be sure, but not... bad. Not like the others.

Jim. He paused then, hands clasped neatly behind his back as he turned to look at him. At the moment, Spock was less Jim's first officer and more like the instructor that had stepped down at the hearing before the Narada incident, composed and all-knowing and quite self-confident indeed. Must you always be so distracted by physical characteristics?

Erk. Shit. Kirk gave a look to Spock, hesitated only a moment before laughing. He shrugged just slightly, Not distracted. I'm admiring the view.

Something you never fail to do. It was completely expected of course, this was Jim even though this was Jim in his mind (what an odd situation, he noted to himself). He half-turned away from him, beginning to walk up the hallway again. While it seemed to go on forever, and curved into what it probably a longer hallway, the side architecture began to change slightly, with larger doors of marked importance. Why the jacket? The jeans he can understand in a limited sense, the command gold as well, but not so much the jacket.

I am who I am. Kirk said with a shrug, then looked down at himself and the jacket. He slowly slid his fingers over it, trying to ponder out Spock's question.

Honestly, I don't know. I've had this jacket since I got h... since I turned fifteen or so. It was huge on me, won it from some biker fuck. Its in my closet right now on the ship.

The profanity was, in the least, incongruous with his mind. He didn't quite cringe at it, but the air pressed around them briefly, as if to cleanse its residue from his mental halls. It is...interesting. He still admitted, because in ways he would never expound, leather used in Terran garments fascinated him in some respects.

They came to a large door, impossible to move in a place with any real physics but easily shouldered open by Spock. The hall was somewhat familiar, though strangely easily accessed--it carried his sky, or rather, the piece of the sky that he had received from his counterpart. It's smaller, denser, and less clear than the original that Jim's seen, though on the edges of it there are those that are...true stars, straight from him to the people who were their origins. They were easy to define, bright and large points of light, apart from the substitute that took up most of the darkness above them.

See, Jim. I am not alone.

Kirk just stared very slowly around him, amazed. It was absolutely beautiful, golden and light. He stepped forward, just a little, trying to match it to the feelings he had held in him.

Spock, this... this is... amazing... He breathed out, grinning like a mad thing. He had never seen it full and bright like this and had time to pay attention in the other Spock's mind.

I have my counterpart to thank for the majority of it. Standing next to Jim, he lifted his hand to gesture to the broad, dense cluster of stars, fainter individually than the bright spots. That is his Vulcan. Earlier, perhaps he might have been melancholy to think of it as simply a replacement of what he had loss before, but now he had grown accustomed to it, drew strength from it, rather than being caught in the depth of his own tragedy.

Kirk was silent for several long moments, but then he smiled softly, I was serious, you know. I want... I want the crew to be your new sky. Even if we have to build it star by star...
