Communication to All

Your oh so lovely Captain has reserved an entire bar for our use for our final night on Risa! You can get the position of it from the attached file. Nice little place, tucked up on the beach and right up against the waterline, full bar with everything you can imagine! I'll be seeing you all around sunset!

[OOC: This thread can run as long as we need it too, far past the 'end' of Risa Saturday night. Feel free to post anywhere, there's no order, who gives a damn about how the thread looks, just HAVE FUN!]

Fun. He knew exactly what kind of 'fun' Jim had indulged in and he had almost, almost pushed it from his mind before he brought up again. And looking immensely pleased, too. "...of course," He said slowly, barely a breath of a pause between the two syllables.

A glance over at Spock's tone, blinking a little, "...Something wrong, Spock?" He asked a bit unsurely, not understanding the slight change that meant a big one in terms of Vulcans.

He pondered, staring into the sand, whether or not he should allude to his knowledge of Jim's escapades, whether it would throw him off completely or entice him (and then proceeded to question which result he would prefer, and subsequently berated himself mentally). With a glance back at him, "I have ingested more chocolate than I am accustomed to," It wasn't an outright lie. "Pardon any falter of mine as a consequence of that."

"How much did you have tonight?" So it was true! Spock... Vulcans got inebriated by chocolate! His eyes went wide for a moment as he realized just what that meant. The dream... it was true. It had happened.

His thoughts wandered to the half-bar still left in his pocket. "Approximately twenty grams, before you had given me that drink." The last word had its own skepticism; it was still a dessert crammed into a glass and topped with whipped cream.

Kirk had no idea how to calculate that in terms of drunkenness. "Is that a lot for a Vulcan?" He questioned, glancing to Spock unsurely.

Jim's ignorance would probably be better for Spock in this position, but that would involve some conversation directing he really didn't want to orchestrate at the moment. "Any chocolate may be considered too much, depending on whose opinion you request. A standard bar of sixty-percent cacao, forty grams," He brought his hands forward to show the general size between two index fingers. "Is akin to two chocolate milkshakes in a standard San Francisco diner, which is, in turn, similar to three pints of an average-strength North American beer on the human digestive system." This, too, was accompanied by its own size motions.

"So, if you were to compare, about one and a half pints," A glance over to him again. "Though with your resistance, in terms of effects."

Only Spock would be so damned complicated about it. Kirk followed the logic for a moment, then snorted a little, "A pint and a half is barely anything." Damn, you'd have to pour chocolate straight down Spock's veins for him to get actually drunk Kirk thought. "So not bad."

He looked down and stopped in his walk, kneeling down. He grinned a little and dusted something buried a bit in the hand, digging it out with his fingertips. Finally he pulled out a large shell, surprisingly in tact except for a bit of a nick at the edge, then straightened up. He turned it over in his hands, checking the inside of it to make sure it wasn't home to anything, then held it up to his ear. The roar of the ocean became louder.

"That was before you gave me that drink." And he would just leave it in the air for Jim on guessing just how much chocolate was in it, and the difference in concentrations between Risan and Terran chocolate syrups.

Spock tilted his head slightly to the side as he watched Jim dig out this shell, and then do something rather absurd with it. "What are you doing?"

Date: 2009-08-28 03:25 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
"Listening to the ocean. And no, I don't mean the one we're standing next to." Kirk said with a small grin, looking to Spock. "Here, listen." He held up the cool shell to Spock's ear, remember doing the same on a sunny beach light years and light years away.

He ducked away in an instinctive maneuver, taking a few steps to the side in a shallow arch. Unlike Jim, Spock did not have such memories, and pressing things to his ear when he wasn't sure some nasty crustacean would come out of it was completely out of the question. Not to mention having the audio track of a distant planetary ocean stuffed in a small shell was ridiculous and for the moment, illogical.

"I am certain that it will sound similar to the this one, in any respect."

Kirk's brows shot up as Spock ducked away. He tilted his head just slightly, blinking. "Spock, it's just a shell. Nothing in it, I looked before I put it up to my own ear. Nothing bit me, right?" But he didn't try again, instead tucking it away in his own pocket.

Bones would love it, he was sure. A bit of Risa captured in something so small.

Date: 2009-08-28 04:24 pm (UTC)

"There is always the possibility that those conditions may change when it is temporarily unobserved." Still mostly skeptical, he began walking down the length of the beach again, hoping Jim would follow.

"...not when its in my pocket-- Did you just insult me somehow?" Kirk laughed, following along with Spock. He grinned lazily, loving the feel of sand between his toes.

Date: 2009-08-28 04:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
"Of course not." He didn't intend to, and was almost worried that he accidentally had. But Jim's laughter and good mood were rather infectious, and he welcomed its supplement to his own thoughts. As he stepped through the sand, he felt the strange and familiar sensation of lightness coming to his mind, which, when coupled with the ocean, made everything feel...relaxed. Almost dangerously so.

Date: 2009-08-28 05:19 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
Kirk's hands fell to his sides, swinging slowly as he walked close to Spock. Not on purpose, not even consciously, just walking, eyes skipping ahead, to the water, to the stars above. "...have you thought about the shielding thing at all?" He questioned curiously.

Date: 2009-08-28 05:45 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
Why, yes, he had. When his counterpart had accidentally sent him that vivid, overwhelming image of Jim and McCoy and the other Jim and that impossibly strong coffee table, Spock had concentrated very hard on shielding, regardless if he couldn't really string together two hydrocarbons to save his life at that point. He supposed that was not what Jim wanted to hear, though.

"Yes." Honesty, to a point. He could also bringing in his contact with his mirror counterpart into this, but decided against such complex matters. "I have been exploring possible teaching methods, though your education ultimately rests on your willingness to engage in a meld. Your experience with my counterpart and myself should have dismissed any misconceptions you have about the procedure."

Date: 2009-08-28 05:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
Twitch. "...Spock." Kirk's voice suddenly went very serious. He stepped forward quickly so he could get in front of Spock, studying his first officer from a very close distance. "What did your counterpart tell you? ...About me, and melds."

Date: 2009-08-28 05:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
"That you were subjected to a meld without your explicit consent by the Ambassador." Spock stopped walking, of course, not that Jim was blocking his path, but to avoid stepping any closer to him. They were too close, his mind was telling him, but the chill off the ocean seemed to be warded off by Jim's proximity. "The meld, in this case, would not be to trigger an influx of information, but rather an exploration of your own mental capabilities, Jim."

Date: 2009-08-28 06:00 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
"That night, when we shared the meld with your counterpart, you basically called me a fucking wuss for not sharing in it willingly." Kirk met those dark eyes, those very human eyes.

"When I was on Delta Vega, I had no idea what that old bastard was doing. He stepped up to me, gave me some bullshit, and ripped my fucking mind open. I don't think he did it intentionally or I'd hate him, but..." His eyes closed just for a moment, remembering far too much, "He was in my head. He gave me more information then I ever wanted or needed. Another lifetime of information about places and peoples and feelings I'd never had. Shit that gave me nightmares for weeks, still does sometimes."

He had never told anyone this, even Bones. Fuck, it felt like a dam - once one part of it was removed, the whole river came instead of just a trickle.

"You, all you Vulcans, are used to it. Me? Not so much. You know about my second meld?" He didn't even let Spock answer. "I got thrown in your counterparts head, attacked by Nazis, nearly killed by his mind alone. That, up until the one the three of us shared, was my experience with melds."

He really shouldn't, said the little piece of his reason that was still stubbornly holding on against chocolate and the ocean and Jim, fighting against his immediate thought of what to do here. There was sympathy, definitely, maybe a little bit of guilt at his strong words the other night (though it had been necessary)...but he also wanted him to know that he sympathized, showing it and not showing it. There were mannerisms he just would not change, chocolate or not.

Spock reached up and put his hand over Jim's shoulder, slightly firm, casual but also careful that it was all fabric. He could still feel the difference between human body heat beneath his fingers and the coolness of the tropical evening. "Then allow me to provide you with more positive experiences, so that you may see that these are only anomalies."

Date: 2009-08-28 06:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
Well, there was his definite proof that Spock was drunk. Spock was touching him, willingly, and it wasn't his throat. The Vulcan's hand felt particularly warm in contrast to the ocean breeze around them, strong on his shoulder. It surprised Kirk to say the least, and his almost defensive attitude fell away under the almost caring gesture.

He licked his lips, tasting a bit of kicked up sea salt from the light sprays, before saying, "...I came to you, didn't I?" Instead of his counterpart.

Date: 2009-08-28 06:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
"It is probably better that you did." Now, here in came the problem that he had already foreseen: it was against every tenant of nature to pull away from warm things and resign oneself to cold. It took a considerable amount of will power to pull his hand away then, slowly, reluctantly. His eyes glanced away from Jim's face, but not necessarily Jim. They lingered on his throat, his shoulder, his chest, knew that there was a slow-beating heart he'd be able to feel if he could. "I do not have any traumatic memories to terrorize you with, should I make a mistake. Certainly no Nazis."

Date: 2009-08-28 06:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
"...everyone has their traumatic memories, Spock, even if they don't think they are." Kirk said quietly, "...Old loves, old pains, old griefs, what have you... things we've come to terms with but someone else would feel fresh." He could remember it. Feeling so many things alien and familiar...

"And you could end up feeling mine." Almost a laugh, "Not just mine. Spock's, the oldest of you... his, too."

Date: 2009-08-28 06:49 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
Spock glanced back up at him, those blue eyes. "I shall be careful, then." If they were truly his, than he would probably feel a majority of it, anyway, in the future. At least a semblance of it.
