(OOC: Note! This is an open post for anyone who needs Kirk in any way, shape, or form right now, so just drop on by even though its starting off with Kirk and Spock!!)

After the night with Bones, to say James T. Kirk felt like shit was an understatement. He felt hurt, and angry, and confused, and all over the place all at once. It made for... well, not the greatest beginning for an alpha shift on the bridge.

He was slumped in his office. Sleep hadn't come easy, and he hadn't stayed that way much at all. This morning had even required coffee. Shit, he hadn't been forced to drink coffee to stay awake in months.

And now he had a meeting with Spock. Great. He was pretty sure there was something else ... someone else... he had a meeting about today too but couldn't force himself to remember yet.

From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
Unlike Jim, Spock's day-to-day occurrences post-birthday had been altogether satisfactory. The flow of paperwork and crew matters settled into a comfortable pace, even with the quarterly flood of information that Command had been sending him continuously for the past week and a half. Confident about the rest of the day, he came to the captain's office for the morning meeting Jim had asked for rather suddenly.

The door hissed open and Spock stepped in. "Captain." He noted the cup of coffee on the desk, Jim's (lack of) posture, but said nothing more as he took his usual seat before the desk.

"Spock." Kirk shifted to sit up more, leaning his elbows on the desk between them. "Bones and I ended up talking," fighting, "last night. He thinks its time I could get these removed." Kirk smudged his fingertips across his cheeks, where the tattoos sat. "You'd have to take the bridge more often... looks like it could take a long time and I'll need entire days to heal up from it, if we can even do it at all."

Date: 2010-01-18 05:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
He nodded once. "Understood." The procedure wouldn't be easy, no matter which method they took for it. He would ask Leonard which route they preferred for this.

But there was something missing from Jim's statements. "You mention his opinion about removal--do you also desire to remove them?"

Date: 2010-01-18 06:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
Kirk licked his lips, nodding slightly, "Most of them." The fingers unconsciously flexed on his left hand. "We're going to start with the ones on my back, probably go for my face last."

Date: 2010-01-18 06:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cso-spock.livejournal.com
A logical approach. It would be best to deal with the most easily hidden ones first, in case any side-effect occur during the removal. However, Jim had said 'most.' "Which of them do you want to keep?"

Re: Starfleet message to Capt. Kirk

From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
Kirk stared at the message, and whispered several curses in several languages. "Come on! We've already got a slew of people here working on this... fuck!" He didn't need anyone else. All the way from an Admiral... lovely. He felt like writing back something nasty, but decided to say nothing back for now.

It was that last part that bothered him. A lot.

Like hell he's getting full access to my medical records. Bones' eyes only.

Kirk pulled up a screen on his console, and started typing.

Bones, see the attached message. Full medical records, that's your area. Gonna see what information I can find out about this guy.

Bones had read the message, and knew exactly what was on Jim's mind.

No one sees your records, Captain. They're locked down tight, your clearance and mine. Besides, I think I can limit him to the new folks, no need for the others. That's my stand, anyway.

I heard of him, he's a suit, doesn't practice much medicine but write a lot of books. I think Tina worked with him once.

If Tina's worked with him, I'll ask her to come up to the office so I can find out some first hand information. This is bullshit, how many more people are they going to send to study us like rats in a cage? Limit him. He doesn't need to see everyone's.

...and... thanks.

Tina, when you get some time I need to see you in my office. Captain JTK.

Date: 2010-01-18 07:30 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rn-chapel.livejournal.com
Another odd summons from the Captain. This one didn't have the same sort of urgency to it, but Tina grabbed a medkit on her way out the door anyhow. If she didn't need it, fine, but if she did, it would be better to have it with her from the start.

She went to his office and buzzed for entry.

Date: 2010-01-18 07:38 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
Already she was learning one of the top five facts about James T. Kirk - always good to have a medkit when dealing with him and ample lube.

"Enter." Kirk looked up, stylus just above the padd he was writing on.

Date: 2010-01-18 07:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] rn-chapel.livejournal.com
Tina stepped into the office. "You asked to see me?"

Date: 2010-01-18 07:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
"Have a seat," He gestured to the chair on the other side of his desk, "I was wondering... Bones mentioned you worked with this guy in the past and I'd like to get some first hand information about him." Kirk pulled up the memo again, making sure he had the right name. "Doctor Roger Korby," He looked up, "Do you remember working with him?"

Although she'd been on the Enterprise for some days now, Helen still hadn't actually met its commanding officer. While Dr. McCoy had been perfectly cordial and very helpful in getting her settled in, she still wanted to meet the captain herself. It was, after all, only polite and professional to introduce herself. And apart from that - she knew James T. Kirk's story as well as anyone else in Starfleet. Who wouldn't be curious?

She'd sent a message a few days earlier, setting up a meeting - she only hoped he remembered, and that nothing more urgent had come up in the meantime. Helen approached the door to Kirk's office and pressed the buzzer.

Date: 2010-01-18 08:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
Kirk looked up from the assignment he was reading, brows up. He thought back through his calender but couldn't think of anything, but wasn't real surprised if he had missed something. Usually someone sent him a comm... He waved his own thoughts away, "Enter." He called out, sitting back in his chair.

When the woman entered, it shocked him that he had no idea who this was. He knew all the faces of people on his ship (even if he had trouble with names, sometimes...) and to see someone he didn't know was a surprise. "Hello Ms...?"

Date: 2010-01-18 09:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] first-noel.livejournal.com
"Doctor," she corrected, and smiled, holding out her hand. "Helen Noel. I'm the psychiatrist sent from Starfleet Medical - I sent you a message a few days ago, arranging this meeting?"

He was young, she thought, looking at him. She knew his birthdate as well as everyone else in Starfleet, of course. But the history text hadn't mentioned how blue his eyes were.

She wondered how well he was handling all the pressure. How well anyone could, let alone someone with so little command experience.

From: [identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com
...Hell. She probably had. He put on his best smile and took her hand, shaking it firmly with a bit of a flirt to his expression, "It's nice to finally meet you." It was easy to keep down how much he hated shrinks.

"What can I help you with? It's been... saying busy is an understatement." He smirked, just slightly.

Captain,

There's a new displaced person on the ship. I've got him settled in my room and know who he is. He's got no weapons and isn't a threat. I'm just sending a message to let you know of his presence.

That isn't how this works. I need a name and more information. He needs to be brought to sickbay to be checked for anything, and I need to meet him. Bring him up to my office immediately.

She looked over at David. "Captain wants to meet you. He's a nice young man, if not a bit jumpy." She got dressed and replicated some clothes for him.

Well, shit, this was not something he wanted to do because if Emma was right, which is looking more likely by the minute, he's been dead for at least three years. That does not bode well for this meeting at all. Goddammit.

"Somehow, darlin' that ain't reassurin', so help me, if he shoots at me," he trailed off moving to pull on his clothes.

"Lead the way, darlin'."
