It was morning on the Enterprise, and it came with the slow creaking of wood deck around him, swelling in the heat of the morning, the sound of waves against the sides of the ship. Definitely a damn good way to wake up.

Even better was waking up between two warm bodies, one pressed to either side of him. On one side was his cabin boy, a young buck with a foolish head but a pleasing face and tongue. On the other, his first mate, a smug, stoic, uptight, ridiculously intelligent bastard who he had finally talked into ...sharing his bed. At least in the physical sense. He'd won the argument that the captain's bed was the most comfortable place on the ship, but anything beyond that was met with a pointed look and a reach for the sword hilt.

It was a damn good life here on the Enterprise.

He was Captain James T. Kirk of the pirate ship Enterprise, the most feared name on the open seas. He ran his crew with a mixture of charm, command, and the point of his sword. He was a good swordsman, a better brawler, and decent with a flint lock.

[OOC: This will be the ONLY pirate thread everyone, no multiple posts on multiple journals! Post just in here for this! Today only!]

Tina nodded. "There are too many people with the ambition to lead on this boat, and not enough ship to share between them."

She wiped her hands against the rag that hung from her belt, a gesture that had become so habitual in the past few days as her hands were steeped in blood that she didn't even notice that she was doing it.

"What do you plan to do, Meira?"

Meira shrugged. "Survive, I guess. Not much else I can do on this ship."

She bit her lip. "We should decide now if we're treating everyone or no one. We can't afford to look like we're taking sides. Not now. At least until we know who's going to win."

She frowned suddenly. As much as herself and Tina were in danger, Pasha and Nova would be in more.

"What are you going to do?" she asked absentmindedly, feeling worried for her partners.

"I think it'll be best to stand back, and help the wounded as much as I can, until someone seizes the ship. And then hope that whoever it is will not be offended by my neutrality." Tina made a face. "It might be more prudent to throw my weight and loyalty behind a candidate from the beginning, but who can say which of this crew will rise to power?"

She paused, struck by a sudden thought. "What of your girls? Do either of them have aspirations?"

Meira shrugged. "With this much of the command gone, a cook could become Captain."

Meira winced. "Pasha may jump at the chance. She probably will. Nova... she didn't talk about it much. She's a wildcard in this situation."

She focused intensely on the patterns of stains and grime on the wall across from her, worrying about her girls.

"If Pasha intends to make a bid for the captaincy, then I think your course is clear," Tina said. "Support your lady, aye? And hope she can claw her way to the top and stay there."

Meira nodded in agreement. "Don't know what I can do to help though. I'm only good with my gun and average with my sword, and pardon me if I hope to hell she doesn't need my medical skills."

Tina nodded. "But you can give her your advice, at the least. It may be enough to see her through. And if you go to her now, you can tell her that Garrovick is dead before I tell them all." Tina bit her lip, and wiped her hands again. "It's more favor than I meant to show, but I owe it to you if I owe it to anyone. I can give you an hour."

"Alright." Meira took a deep breath. "One hour. If I'm not back, assume something happened."

With that, she exited the room and headed to find her Pasha.
