(OOC: This is an OPEN POST for anyone who desires it to bring themselves up to the Enterprise. Feel free to use it like a party post if needed, but this is an official/IC post!)
Exactly one month after they had arrived on Sha'Kwai, they were leaving. Early in the morning, Jim and Bones pulled themselves out of sweaty sheets and apart from each other, little marks that could all be hidden beneath their uniforms littering their bodies. The shower, the last time they would have unending hot water for a long while, got put through its paces just as much. Jim hoped that the little squeak in the door wouldn't be noticed from where he had been holding onto it while Bones was sucking him off.
Clean, in pressed uniforms, and feeling decent, the two of them and all of their stuff beamed back up to the Enterprise.
There was no change in the gravity and only a minimal change in temperature when they reformed, and Jim was pleased. Over three weeks, it had been decided, the gravity would be lightened back to normal and the temperature lowered until it was back to normal regulations. It would be easier on everyone's bodies that way. Jim had every plan to work to make sure that the muscle he had gained while on Sha'Kwai stayed on his body - damn his abs looked good. Bones seemed to approve too.
Once he had gone through the ship, checking in to make sure everything was set, he sent out the notice to the entire crew.
Captain Kirk to crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise,
The Enterprise is ready to set sail again. Begin returning to the ship immediately. The ship will be leaving space dock tonight at 17:00 precisely, so you will be required to be on ship by then. If there are any concerns or issues, please send a message directly to me. All crew will be accounted for upon transport, and you will be given your room assignments and schedules that have been provided by your supervisor.
Please be advised that there have been changes in room and ship layout, and along with this message you have been provided maps with keyed changes to the ship's layout. Be familiar with them as soon as possible. If there are any troubles with rooming assignments, please direct your messages to the ship's new quartermaster, Lt. Commander Aurelan Jira. Attached is the new crew roster as well.
If you are new to the Enterprise or otherwise require: you will report immediately to sickbay after transport. There will be people bringing baggage to your new room assignment if it is required. There are no exceptions with this mandatory check up from the CMO, Doctor Leonard McCoy.
We'll be heading straight to Starbase 69 to drop off those that require transport there. It will be a sad goodbye to the people that have arrived from other universes and have decided to remain there, and I give a nod towards Christine 'Tina' Chapel and wish her good luck, but as it stands, they are only beginning their own adventures.
I'm looking forward to our future adventures together,
Captain James T. Kirk.

Date: 2010-06-15 06:21 pm (UTC)Even more surprising than the size of the ship was the room she was afforded. Guinan was astute enough to know she hadn't earned this level of comfort, and pulled up the computer panel so she could express her gratitude.
Message to Captain Kirk - I've settled in my new rooms. They are very spacious, and I suspect I have you to thank for that.
If you can give me the location of the recreation area I'll be working, I can make sure all the supplies arrived and begin setting.
I hope to have it up and running in a few days.

Date: 2010-06-15 06:30 pm (UTC)Check the attached file, it should have all of the information you need.
As far as your rooms, I made sure some of my outfitting budget was spent on upgrading all crew quarters.
Hope you enjoy, and keep me updated on what's going on with the bar.
P.S. - Instead of a rec room, you were upgraded to one of the observation decks. I hope you like it - it's bigger, better view.
Captain Kirk

Date: 2010-06-15 09:23 pm (UTC)Well. Actually, she supposed this depended a little bit on whether 'early' qualified as 'on time'. Possibly being aboard before anyone else except the little-seen maintenance staff was a bad move, but missing the ship would have been infinitely worse, and Janice didn't want to risk so monumental a disaster.
This being the case, she was beamed up and in possession of her room assignment and roster before most people had even checked their messages. And the grin that had broken out on her face when she saw the Captain's note didn't fade for hours.

Date: 2010-06-16 12:55 am (UTC)Everything looked shiny and new; the Defiant had been well maintained, of course, but had definitely shown signs of wear. She walked briskly down the corridors, occasionally smiling or saying hello to a familiar face.

Date: 2010-06-16 02:32 am (UTC)At least she could wear pants - messing around with machinery would be hell in a skirt. Speaking of, she remembered something that she'd talked about with Kirk on Sha'Kwai - namely, her supervisor. Nora quickly composed a message, hoping she didn't seem too pushy.
Captain,
Do you know where Mr. Scott might be found? I'd like to speak to him when he has some time, about my duties on the ship.
Thanks!
Lt. Tovik.
P.S. I can send you some sites on Hebrew lettering if you'd like.

P.S. - Would love them.
Captain Kirk.

Date: 2010-06-16 04:22 am (UTC)He stopped a young woman in a blue dress and asked her what was going on. "We're leaving orbit today," she said. "You're not assigned to the Enterprise, then? We're starting our five-year mission." John thought he heard an unspoken finally at the end of that sentence.
So, a ship full of humans was leaving. Staying on this planet certainly wasn't going to get him home; the vortex manipulator wasn't designed for transuniversal travel, which was why it had broken in the first place. He liked his chances more if he got off this planet, particularly if the ship he was on was the exploratory kind. He might even run into the sort of rift anomaly that could take him home.
"I guess I'd better go pack, then," he said cheerfully to the girl. Not that he had much; just the bears and a few changes of clothes he'd acquired. With a few more questions, he managed to ascertain how they were getting back to their ship--a beam-up site not too far from where they were.
"Who are you, again?" she asked, a little late--she'd already told him what he wanted to know, suspicion wasn't going to do her much good.
He waved his scrap of crumpled, worn psychic paper at her, and she narrowed her eyes. "It's okay, I'll put in a good word for you," he said brightly. He offered a salute, which she returned by reflex, and he left to get his bears.
He found the beam-up site easily, and stepped onto the pad with enough confidence--or perhaps it was that his jacket was nearly the same color as the uniforms of the officers beaming up with him--that the transporter operator didn't look twice at him. The fairy bears in their terrarium tucked under his arm flapped their wings nervously as the hum of the transporter beam enveloped them.
The transporter bay where he ended up was marginally less dimmer than the daylight on the planet, but not much. The ship was astonishingly well-lit, in stark contrast to the gloomy Narada. He stepped off the pad with the officers.

Date: 2010-06-19 03:49 am (UTC)Admiral Royd hadn't messaged to let her know Captain Kirk's verdict. All he'd said was to make her way to the Enterprise and find out. She'd grumbled when she'd heard that, calling the Admiral a whole slew of names like "Uncle Fucker" and "Deluded Old Ghost of Christmas Future" under her breath. Thankfully, he hadn't heard her.
So here she was, bouncing on her toes on the transporter base, getting ready to put herself on the line yet again. She sucked in a breath as the familiar tingling of the transporter shivered through her tense body. Nico fancied she could feel her molecules slipping apart and sliding back together as a new view slid into her focus.
The transporter room of the Enterprise was crowded, to say the least. A whole crew of people milled about, most wearing uniforms but a surprising amount donning civilian clothing, like Nico herself. Nodding to the transporter attendant and flashing him her identification PADD, she stepped off the transporter base.
A whole new world. She just had to prove herself.

Date: 2010-06-21 02:43 am (UTC)When the buzzer went off at his door, he glanced up from his work briefly. "Come in." He was surprised to not recognize the woman at all. He stood up, giving her a warm smile. "How can I help you?"

Date: 2010-06-21 03:16 am (UTC)On the other hand, this was Captain motherfucking Kirk. This man was famous. Infamous, in some places. He was a wunderkind. He'd saved them all. Nico at least owed him that.
"Hello, Captain Kirk. I'm Dr. Nico Frank. If I'm not mistaken Admiral Royd sent my files to you recently. I've been told you're looking for a ship psychologist."

Date: 2010-06-21 12:55 pm (UTC)A good feeling from her already.
He stepped out around his desk and offered his hand to her. "It's pleasure to meet you, Dr. Frank. I did get your files, and yes we are." He gave her a wink. "I hope you're up to a challenge."

Date: 2010-06-21 11:44 pm (UTC)He struck her as the good sort; happy, polite, and charming... but there was something dangerous beneath the shining surface. Nico looked him in the eye but saw nothing there to set the hairs on the back of her neck to rising. Whatever threat this man posed, it was certainly not aimed at her. And, from what she'd heard, his crew would follow him to the icy depths of hell and back, so he certainly couldn't be aiming any ill will towards them.
A mystery. She liked that.
