Private Communication to William Shatner ([livejournal.com profile] canadianbill):

Hope it's going okay. ...Haven't heard from you, so not sure if stuff just turned sour after our dinner-date or something. From how you reacted, I can only guess Leonard must have been pissed. I hope I didn't fuck up something between you two. Or... us.

Private Communication to Jim Kirk ([livejournal.com profile] original_finel):

Want to spar in the gym? I need to, thought you might need to, too.

Private Communication to Marlena Moreau ([livejournal.com profile] lt_moreau):

How you doing beautiful?

Private Communication to the Enterprise ([livejournal.com profile] 1_00110111_01):

Come show that gorgeous hologram around my quarters sometime, when you get a chance.

Private Communication to Spock (Female) ([livejournal.com profile] science_blues):

I think you and I need to talk, asap. Can you come meet me in my office at your first available chance? Thanks.

Private Communication to Sulu ([livejournal.com profile] hikaru_walter):

How you doing beautiful?

Private Communication to Pasha Chekov ([livejournal.com profile] mr_chekov):

...Things work out okay with your mother... Pashachka?

(OOC: Thanks to the notifications and therefore lack of, I'm pretty sure I've completely missed tags from people. If I owe anyone a tag on a thread from the recent two weeks or so, can you leave a little message here with a link? I just keep getting this ugly feeling I'm forgetting something!)

The door slid open as Spock received permission to enter. She crossed the threshold and took careful stock of the room until her eyes caught on the blonde human seated at the desk. Her brow arched and she was momentarily silent as she assessed this man against the memory of the woman she was more familiar with. As the novelty of the visual assessment came to a close, Spock entered and stopped before his desk.

"Greetings, Captain Kirk," Spock stated evenly. "You implied that you wished to converse with me?"

...And Kirk had thought Spock was a rigid sonofabitch. He just let his eyes wander over the lady in the room, absolutely amazed. "Not everyday I get to see a female version of my first officer." He grinned, a little, knowing he was getting himself in trouble but... diving in anyway, "Even one with a bigger stick up their ass. Relax. I don't know how you act with your captain, but... relax. I'm gonna guess Spock already spoke with you? ...I can't call you both Spock. That's weird. Do you have a nickname or something?" He let himself ramble, trying not to laugh.

Stick...up their ass.

Spock's expression remained placid, her posture straight, and her brow very gradually receded to its default resting location. It seemed this Captain Kirk was just as nuanced as her own. Spock folded her arms behind her back, one wrist grasped loosely by the opposing hand, and paused as she formulated an answer.

"I do not have any alternate, casual designation," Spock informed him. "If you wish to assign me one, you may do so at your leisure.

"As to whether or not my native variant has conversed with me," Spock continued, "We shared a brief but vague communication in which he requested I assume his crew-related and scientific duties on a temporary basis."

Spock paused and tilted her head to the right precisely 2 degrees. The change in angle did not provide any additional observational information and Spock summarily righted her posture. "Was there anything you wished to addend to his request, Captain?"

Kirk just didn't get it. Did his Spock sound like this? Maybe he did, and Kirk was just used to him. "Have a seat. Due to... circumstances I can't even grasp at anymore, you're my second in command for a little while." It was BIZARRE. "I wanted to at least meet you." He smiled, trying to figure her out at least a little bit.

Spock inclined her head evenly and took the proffered seat. As she did so, she folded her hands across her lap and reflexively laced her fingers together.

"An appropriate desire," Spock validated him. He was smiling, perhaps a physical symptom of discomfort or ill ease. It was inappropriate, as she offered him neither resistance nor conflict, but humans did not frequently realize nor react well to commentary about their emotive reflexes.

"I had no been made aware that my acquisition of duties had elevated me to a secondary command status," Spock admitted slowly. "I do not object, as I have been trained adequately, but it is unexpected.

"Are there any specifics you wish to clarify?" Spock prompted.

"I hadn't either until it happened." Kirk shrugged, "It's only for a few days, and well... might just be having to trust my gut that you'll be well versed in your job."

Spock blinked.

"If your...gut is not sufficient, I can answer any questions you see fit to pose," Spock assured him. "I will take my responsibilities with utmost seriousness, despite the brevity of their application."

"...Seriously, I have no doubt you'd ever take something anything less then utmost seriousness." His smile turned into a grin, "...so everyone is the opposite gender? What's my other-me like? What's her name?" He couldn't help, "...tell me she's got a nice rack."

There was something strangely familiar and dissimilar about this situation. Spock would have to note it in her observational journal.

"Insofar as I have noted," Spock replied in even monotone, "the genders of all local individuals are reversed to that of my native plane of existence. It is a fascinating conundrum that I have yet to decode.

"My native Captain, Janessa Kirk," Spock paused, "Though she has required me to refer to her casually by the moniker Jayna... She is a competent officer and a very nuanced individual with a strong personality.

"Her breasts, as I presume that is what you are referring to via the colloquialism rack, are sufficient to her frame. They are nice, nonspecific though that adjective may be," Spock concluded.

"Am I to presume that my native variant is more...jovial? The vernacular you have utilized has indicated a greater level of initial familiarity than any conversations I have engaged in during my time here. I am unable to define the variable that has enabled this difference to occur."

It was like trying to translate another language. Kirk rubbed a hand over his face as his tattoos started to itch all over again. "He's not... jovial. I don't know he's just more... more..." The word spilled out, "Human. He seems more human to me... less Vulcan-- and I don't mean that as an insult." He held up a hand.

"Janessa?" He thought about it, then asked, "What's her middle name?" It had to be less embarrassing. Jayna. Jim. Interesting.

Spock was silent as she considered whether or not to ignore his insinuations about her person. This Kirk was...for lack of a better term, more casual than her own Captain. His indication, though fundamentally flawed in both the literal and metaphorical senses, was not intentional. In the spirit of understanding, Spock refrained from correcting him and ignored the assertion altogether.

"My native Captain's middle name, as it appeared on her informative reports, is Livia."

He would have disagreed on the flawed, because he only knew what she presented, while she knew herself entirely. Or hoped she did. "LIVIA? Why does she get something normal?!" Kirk threw up his hands, rolling his eyes. "That's bullshit."

"I am uncertain," Spock submitted as answer to his rhetorical question. "If I understand correctly, it was a familial internal reference. We have never discussed it.

"Am I to assume your own middle name is of a more obtuse source?" Spock prompted in as near to a casual tone as she ever managed.

"...family too, just... much worse then Janessa's." Kirk shook his head with a little laugh. He suddenly... stopped. Names. Vulcan. Family.

And looked at Spock.

"Correct me if I'm wrong... I know the language, but I'm not fully versed in every tiny detail but..." He hesitated, and finally asked, "Why are you called Spock, anyway? Isn't that a male name?"

"Though the indicators in my name are, in fact, traditionally masculine," Spock explained, "my name is historically referential. The gender normatives are non-applicable in such cases."

Spock paused and arched a brow as she regarded the blonde. "I had not considered it," Spock prefaced evenly, a note of curiosity in her voice, "but does your native Spock possess a middle name?"

A middle name? Kirk blinked once, thinking about it. He almost said he didn't know, but something flickered at the edges of his consciousness. He let out a breath as he closed his eyes, and let the memories bubble up to the surface. "S'chn T'gai Spock. His full name." Pronounced accurately. Hard to forget, when the memory of the very man was floating around in his.

Spock's brow lifted another millimeter as the human reproduced the name. His pronunciation was accurate, worthy of a small incline of her head. Though, unfortunately, the information was not of particular, specific value.

"Yes, that is our shared familial name," Spock conceded, "However it is not a middle name. As it is nearly a non-practice on modern Vulcan, at least in my native plane of existence, I shall presume that he does not until provided the opportunity to question him further."

She really should have asked the other Spock, but it had not come up. Curious.

"Is there anything else you wish to know or discuss?"

Well, now... he just had to ask. "You must have one, then. What is it?" He asked curiously, giving her an interested look. He was no expert on Vulcan names, and no information came to his mind, so the exact depths of that knowledge escaped him.

"I do," Spock admitted placidly, "It is Gracen."

Spock was silent a moment, but Kirk's curious tone had implied a desire for knowledge. In the proverbial spirit of sharing, Spock decided to elaborate.

"My father insisted upon it, as a fashion of propagating his own familial name despite the adhesion to Vulcan naming convention. I was curious as to whether or not your native Spock's human parent had felt similarly."

"Gracen." It was... actually sort of pretty. Kirk grinned a little, "How about we call you that? ...Would you be okay with it? At least I could keep you and the other Spocks all on this ship separate from each other."

Spock blinked and regarded Kirk in silence as she considered his proposal. It had not occurred to her to suggest utilizing her middle name as a moniker. It was a reasonable suggestion and eliminated the implied inferiority of numerical designation.

It was logical.

"I have no objections to this solution," Spock responded thoughtfully, "Particularly if it will aid in your personal designation process."

"Gracen. I like it." He grinned, "And yes, it'll help." Kirk leaned forward in his seat, meeting her eyes. Same dark eyes... "We've gotten some sort of contact from the planet below. I want a full report of anything we can figure out before we head down there."

"Very well, I will assemble what I can," Spock agreed with an incline of her head. "If that is all, Captain, I will begin this task immediately. (http://kirktastic.livejournal.com/33958.html)"
