Private Communication to Lt. Moreau
When you are done your shift tonight, please come to the Captain's office for a brief discussion.

Captain James T. Kirk

-----------------------------------

Kirk sat back in his office and let the padd hit the table, rubbing his brow. After all of this other crap going on... god dammit, he was actually ticked off at his chief of security, and having to deal with putting the man under review ... the fact that CUPCAKE hadn't responded to him actually was ticking him off more.

At least he could deal with Marlena.

Marlena frowned when she received his message, wondering what it could possibly be about. She tried to quash the feeling of dread that unfurled in the pit of her stomach--"discussion" might not be anything to worry about at all. For all she knew, Kirk just wanted to fuck her over his desk.

She exhaled slowly and pressed the buzzer.

Kirk looked up, then winced and rubbed the bridge of his nose. I really need to start wearing those damn glasses again, He thought unhappily to himself. The eyestrain was getting worse. Hated the damn glasses... he looked terrible with them. "Come in."

Well, that wasn't very reassuring. He didn't look very happy to see her. She tried a smile as she stepped through the door, and offered a salute. "Reporting as ordered, Captain."

He offered a smile, gesturing to the seat in front of the desk, "Good to see you again." He sat back in his chair, feeling a headache throbbing behind his eyes. Damn, he had to take something for it. "Have a seat."

She sat. "Thank you. Good to see you, too, sir." She assumed he would tell her why he'd requested her presence soon enough

He didn't look quite well, now that she looked at him closely. "If you don't mind me asking, sir, are you feeling all right?"

A quirk, "Just a headache, that's all. Being a good captain and reading too many reports."

He pulled up Alex's communication and turned it around to Marlena so she could read it, "...Wanna tell me what's up with this?"

Her eyes widened as she scanned the message. He'd really sent that? "The man's insane," she murmured, mostly to herself. She shook her head, unsure whether to laugh at the preposterous message. "I mentioned to him that Commander Spock had confiscated my sash and that I'd like it back...Lieutenant Cupc--er, Alexander said he would get it back for me. I didn't have any idea he was going to pull something like this."

She raised her eyes to the Captain's face again. "I've sent a message to Spock myself asking for my sash back, and he hasn't answered. I wouldn't have thought, though, that it was a situation that requires the Captain's attention, and certainly not with this subject heading."

That nickname was famous if even she was using it. Kirk laughed a little, "Alright, what is this sash you're even talking about? Couldn't you just replicate up another one?"

"My uniform sash, that I was wearing when I first arrived here," she told him. "Spock gave me a new uniform so that I wouldn't stand out. He left my skirt and top, but he kept the sash. I don't know why."

Marlena frowned at that. "Could I? I didn't know the replicators could do that. I assumed they only have patterns for standard uniform items...I'm not very familiar with replicator technology. We don't have them in my universe.

"Besides..." She smiled wryly. "It sort of has sentimental value. A copy wouldn't be the same.

"I never intended for it to become this much of an issue. If Spock had just sent me a message telling me that I could not have the sash back, I would have dropped the matter. It's just that I never received a response."

"Didn't even know he didn't respond." Kirk shook his head, laughing a little bit. "I'll see if I can find it, but I had to find out what the hell this all meant as I hadn't even heard about it."

"Thank you," Marlena said earnestly. "I really appreciate that. And like I said, I didn't mean for it to be such an issue--it didn't strike me as the sort of thing that warranted a Captain's attention." She shrugged.

"It wouldn't have, if Alex hadn't sent me a drunken communication." Kirk smirked. "I'll do what I can, but I can't promise anything."

Marlena nodded, stood, and saluted again. "Thank you for your help," she said. "And...sorry about Alexander."

"...I'll deal with it." He gave a little salute back, "I'll comm you if I find the sash."
