Communication to All

Your oh so lovely Captain has reserved an entire bar for our use for our final night on Risa! You can get the position of it from the attached file. Nice little place, tucked up on the beach and right up against the waterline, full bar with everything you can imagine! I'll be seeing you all around sunset!

[OOC: This thread can run as long as we need it too, far past the 'end' of Risa Saturday night. Feel free to post anywhere, there's no order, who gives a damn about how the thread looks, just HAVE FUN!]

Harold swayed a little at the force of his own laugh.

He hefted the cue, dismantled in three parts and still tied together, and motioned at Kirk with it. "I won this, man. Fair and square and all that shit. It's... important, you know? I stole my way onto your ship, dude, and that isn't right. So I'm trading it. By way of asking for a place. My own quarters, maybe a job. Feel me?"

Kirk thought about that for several moments, then finally... got it. What George had said about Harold and that particular pool cue. How much it probably meant to the guy. He slowly rubbed the back of his neck, then gestured. "Come with me." And walked out of the bar entirely, out towards the beach.

Raising his eyebrows, Harold followed as best his buzz would allow.

Once they were out from the beach, Kirk waited for Harold to catch up before pulling out his communicator and flipping it open, "Enterprise. Two to beam up."

"Aye, Captain."

"Hold on tight, Harold." Kirk grinned as light wrapped around them.

"Ooooh, no you fucking don't--"

He was really tired of being dismantled piece by piece.

Kirk grinned when they got back up to the ship and stretched a bit as they appeared. "Come on, follow me." And stepped right off.

Harold shook his head violently, mussing his own hair. "What the hell, man." It wasn't a question. Wasn't even an admonishment.

He stepped after Kirk, really, really fucking confused.

Kirk led Harold through the ship, down the way, to the residential quarters. He stopped in front of one and stepped inside after issuing a captain's code, and gestured for Harold to follow.

"Lights, 80%." He called out. "Harold, close your eyes." He said quickly.

Okay.

Closing eyes, then.

"Yessir. Trusting you here, dude. Heh."

There was some rustling, something else, a ding, the replicator for sure. Then, "Alright, open your eyes."

Sitting on the bed was a pair of black trousers, black boots, a communicator, a phaser, a black undershirt, and three shirts - one blue, one red, one gold. "Harold Lee, as Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise, I welcome you aboard my ship and into my crew. These are your assigned quarters... and well, I have an idea of where you'll be positioned until you pick a more chosen course."

Kirk was grinning his ass off.

"I-"

Well, shit.

"Thank you."

It was hardly Starfleet-like, he was sure, but in a split second, Harold pulled Kirk into a hug.

It startled Kirk for a moment, then he laughed and gave a brief hug in return, "Well, for now... and since I don't have one I actually like, I'm making you my official yeoman. If you pick up other skills, we can sling you in there instead."

Harold blinked. "Thank you. So, so fucking much."

Um. He was about to sound stupid.

"What's a yeoman?"

Kirk grinned and stepped back, gesturing, "You'd be my right hand man. Its a lot of paperwork, but you'd be reporting to me from all departments, dealing with minor and major stuff... its actually really important." He put on his captain's face for a moment, "I can't do all this shit by myself and I really needed one, but... I wanted someone who was right. Who I could click with."

This was-- big.

"You think that's me?" A pause.

"I can do it." He didn't know what else to say. He was pretty fucking blown away.

Kirk nodded, sure. "I'm sure of it. Definitely." He offered out his hand, "Welcome aboard, Lee."

Harold took it, forcing himself not to choke up.

"Thank you, sir," he answered as primly as he could manage.

"Um. What's next?"

"Well," He nudged Harold over to the desk and opened it, "Your own personal padd, registered to you alone. The room's already encoded to your voice and scans. This," He pulled out a slim white object, "Is your credit chip. Starting today, you're on official payroll. Starting tomorrow, you'll be learning your job."

Plucking the object from Kirk's fingers, he turned it over in his hands, in awe.

His gaze shifted to the shirts laid out. Gold is completely out, he thought.

Blue or red. He leaned over and touched the red shirt. "This one okay?"

Kirk gestured, "S'why I gave you the choice. Go ahead, change into uniform." A bright grin, "Want you to go back to the party in it."

He turned around and faced the wall.

Smirking, he changed quickly. It fit nicely. He was somewhat relieved to be rid of his battered shirt.

"What do you think?"

Kirk turned back around and eyed Harold over slowly, then grinned, "Here." He grabbed the communicator and showed Harold where it sat best, "No phaser for you, yet. You and I are going down to the shooting range soon and I'll teach you about that, kay?" He held up a finger.

"One thing missing." He dug into his pocket and pulled out something that was dull grey, and carefully pinned it to the front of Harold's shirt. A delta badge, just like the rest of the crew, but this one was devoid of division symbol like a cadet's. "Perfect."

Harold ran fingers over the metal; he wondered what the serial number on the back of this one would mean.

"Anything you say, man. Sir."

Kirk smirked with the sir and nodded. "Perfect." He gestured with his head, "Let's go back down. You can show off your new duds."
