Communication to All

Your oh so lovely Captain has reserved an entire bar for our use for our final night on Risa! You can get the position of it from the attached file. Nice little place, tucked up on the beach and right up against the waterline, full bar with everything you can imagine! I'll be seeing you all around sunset!

[OOC: This thread can run as long as we need it too, far past the 'end' of Risa Saturday night. Feel free to post anywhere, there's no order, who gives a damn about how the thread looks, just HAVE FUN!]

"It's a lovely idea. I've only met a few of your crew, Captain, and I hope to meet more. But everyone I've talked to has been so welcoming." A little too welcoming, in one instance, but that was neither here nor there. Not tonight.

"I hope you've enjoyed your shore leave, Captain? I imagine you must need it more than most."

"Jim." Kirk said gently, still smiling, "I'm off-duty, right now. And... well, this was definitely a welcomed break." Specially with Bones...

"...All right, then. Jim." She smiled. "I wanted to thank you for your hospitality. I'm sure it mustn't be easy, having doubles of your crew running around, and I do appreciate your letting us stay. I'm sure the others do too."

That made him laugh softly, "Well, it's taken some getting use to, definitely. But it isn't just hospitality. Everyone's been working, so it's far from charity. We'll find a way to get you all home, but until then... everyone's just an addition, a welcomed one, to the crew."

"Oh yes - I'm not sure what my role will be in your Sickbay, with - well, with another Head Nurse Chapel." She laughed. "I'm sure I'll find some way to contribute, though."

She sobered at the mention of home. The word sparked conflicting feelings of homesickness and dread; she simultaneously wanted nothing more than to get back there, and to stay in the company of strangers, avoiding her own Kirk, Spock, and McCoy, forever. "I'm sure you will. If your Mr. Scott is anything like ours - we'll be home in no time."

The second he saw that smile fade, he stepped up and gently touched under her chin. "...that smile should never fall from such a beautiful face." He said quietly. "I'm sure there's things my Nurse Chapel could learn and hell probably even Bones from your experience. We're... lacking a lot, on our ship. Experienced crew members without a doubt. We need someone like you down in sickbay."

Christine started at the unexpected touch. It had been a long time since anyone so young and, she had to admit, gorgeous had paid her much mind.

So young, indeed. The whole crew was so young. "I'll do whatever I can," she promised. "Your people may be inexperienced, but - if they're anything like the ones I know - I'm sure they'll never let you down."

That warm smile of his returned, "I know they won't. I trust them. I trust my crew. We've already done amazing things together and we'll do more."

"Oh yes - I have no doubt of that. The stories I could tell you about all the things you might encounter...but I won't." She smiled. "This is a different universe, but enough is the same that I have no doubt in saying that you're in for quite an adventure, Jim."

"Trust me, I've already learned a lot about what's happened to other Jim." Kirk gave an easy grin. "Things have already been changed thanks to Nero returning... and if you haven't heard about that it's a very long story that probably takes over two hours to tell... but we'll do our thing. I want it to be an adventure."

"Oh, I've heard the story," Christine reassured him. "Well, the short version, anyway. Such an awful thing, all those Vulcans..." She tried to swallow back the distress she felt every time she thought of what had happened. It wouldn't do to spoil the party. She offered Kirk a smile instead. "I'm sure it will be, Jim." She reached out to put a gentle hand on his arm. "You've led quite the adventurous life already, I understand."

Nothing could stop him when his mind had swung into full on Kirk-charm mode. His other hand came up and gently laid on top of hers, squeezing lightly. "Couldn't agree more, but I wouldn't want anything else."

Strange how until he had met Pike in that bar, he had been going no where at all.

Christine smiled, noticing the pensive look nearly hidden by the charm. Oh yes, this boy had stories to tell.

As the music pouring from the speakers changed from a low background song to something more upbeat, Christine glanced at Kirk. Deftly flipping her hand up to grasp his, she quirked her eyebrows up in a question. "Do your many talents include dancing, Jim?"

[[OOC: Chapel's apparently committed to dancing with the whole bar tonight, heh]]

"Oh, I think I know a bit." Kirk said with a warm smile, bowing to her, "Would my lady care for a dance?" It should have been cheesy yet somehow he worked that line in smoothly.

"I'd be delighted," she replied, dropping a small curtsy and holding out her hand, content to let him lead.

Kirk took her hand and led her out to the dance floor. Maybe for his age and general background, it might have been surprising that he did indeed know how to dance formally. He swept her lightly in close, hands appropriately placed, laughing softly.

"Been a long time since I've done this." There was a sparkle in his eyes, "Takes a special lady to get me to do it." It didn't matter who it was, there was just an instinct to be as charming as possible.

Chapel knew perfectly well what he was up to, and found she didn't mind a bit. She spent so much time running around Sickbay with McCoy barking orders and her hands covered in blood, it was a refreshing change to be treated like a lady for once.

"Well, you certainly haven't forgotten how," she told him. "I'm impressed." She'd taken ballet lessons, once upon a time, and she and Roger used to go out dancing too. Christine let the feeling and the steps come back to her, for once able to remember the old days without the sadness and regret that usually accompanied the memories.

"And neither have you." Kirk said with a grin, "You dance wonderfully." He spun her gracefully and with that completely charming smile, dipped her lightly before pulling her close again. She was a very beautiful lady.

"It used to be a hobby of mine," she admitted. "I don't often have the pleasure of such a skilled partner, though." She gave him a slightly wicked smile as he dipped her and pulled her up again.

Oh how he loved when they flirted back. "Skilled indeed." He quipped with a sassy little grin, "I was lucky enough someone decided that being a new captain required knowing how to slow dance. I'm a fast learner." His voice was all pure tease, unable to help himself around a beautiful lady.

"Is that why you learned? I did wonder."

As the slow song ended and a tango began, an even more wicked grin spread across her face. "You've proved you can slow dance; you up for a real challenge now, Captain?"

His brows shot up and Kirk laughed, "I'll have to follow your lead on this, beautiful." He grinned, "I'll pick it up fast, I swear."

Chapel laughed and agreed, "All right, but don't feel bad if you can't keep up, sweetheart." She took his hands and arranged them correctly, then began the dance. She wasn't used to leading, much less with an untrained partner, but she was glad to accept the challenge tonight.

True to his word, Kirk was picking it up fast. The quick steps, flares of the hip that came with the tango, and the tight press of bodies together. Parts made him laugh when he didn't know them, taking them fully in stride and going with it. No embarrassment, just having fun. Which included a little saucy feline growl at one point before laughing again.

Chapel laughed along with him, realizing with some surprise that she was truly enjoying herself - not only succeeding in forgetting her own worries by distracting herself with the scenery or with other people's problems, but actually having fun. She loved dancing, hadn't done it in years, and it was wonderful to dance with a partner so sure of himself and unafraid of making mistakes in front of others.
