Bill, coming down the hall in the opposite direction, was also heading for his room, but 'walking' was perhaps not the best descriptor for the unsteady, distracted half-run that sent him careering into the captain before he'd so much as registered another presence in the hallway.

Kirk, however, when Bill glanced up in startlement to see who he'd collided with, didn't really look himself either.
"Sorry," he managed, reaching out to steady the other man by the elbows as he struggled for stillness. "God, I'm sorry. Wasn't looking where I was going." He shook his head at his own recklessness. "You all right?"
