[OOC: Star Trek Online: Part 2]

So, here's part 2 of this review! I bought the game yesterday, so I'll be able to get a full account soon! Yay!

Isn't this god damn gorgeous? I actually have to stop and just stare sometimes at how PRETTY things are. Here's some info on the screen.. you'll see my top three Bridge Officers (usually 'BO'), two are Vulcan (Tact and Sci) and one is Human (Eng). Each one has an ability I can use while in space. Sci has a neat ability called "Science Team I" which when I click it, gives an instant 'heal' to my shields and increases the amount they regen for a while. Engineering has "Emergency Power to Weapons I" which drops a bunch of power into weapons and I suddenly do 5x as much damage for a short amount of time. Tactical has an ability I'm not too keen on after trying it called "Beam: Fire at Will". For 1 minute every time I fire a beam weapon, it has a chance to strike out at several enemies instead of one.

Here I am at the Vulcan Monestary! (Check out the symbol right in front of me). We're on an away mission, so I have my BOs and a redshirt with me. (Yes, Security still = redshirts, lawls, and they die faster than you or your BOs) On the ground, your NPC away team takes generally good care of itself.
I'll point out again -dying has little to no consequence in this game. I LIKE THAT. You die and about 10 seconds later you can get back up. In Space, you appear back away from the fight. On Ground, you appear at your last check point, which happen pretty often.

This is still the newbie ship, so my bridge isn't too impressive. I was on a tactical bridge yesterday and damn does it look NEAT. Can't wait to get it. But look at me pimpin' in ma chair!

I'm on Risa! Yes, I beamed down into a vacation resort!

Since I said I would get a pic last time... look! Shiikaar and his pet tribble, Mattson! He's bright orange with blue stripes. Isn't he god damn cute? XD

Okay, I have to explain this one.
First off: I FOUND ROLEPLAYERS. Good ones! I just joined up when someone mentioned an area called "Wolf". I quickly discovered it was a zone I could go to, and zoomed over.
I came out to what you see. The final battlefield of the Federation vs. the Dominion. A graveyard of a thousand ships and the remains of borg cubes, floating forever in space, with a memorial in the middle.
I slowly floated through the corpses of ships and people... and suddenly, my speakers picked up a transmission. It was broken, mechanical... faded. I couldn't understand it.
Then, as I got closer to the memorial, another one. Another. Another. All different, some in other languages, with a word here and there I could understand. This immediately sparked RP (which we're turning into a storyline! Ha!) and... damn. I mean, as a person sitting in my chair, it was FUCKING CREEPY. I kept trying to understand the transmissions and I almost wanted to shiver. You'd get something frantic sounding, something like a shout another time, something calm the next... I think the biggest 'chunk' of a transmission I got was "This is Captain ---, do you copy? Over." Someone else said they heard "We've got too--!"
So... as time progresses, I'm learning the good and bad of the game. I could see how it might get a little repetitive, so we'll see about that. I've gotten much better at moving in space. Using the mouse is generally the way to go - you automatically sort of move in the direction you want to go. I'll be able to upgrade to a real ship soon (instead of the newbie one) and the gamefaq forums have been nice in helping me learn about the ships and what I should pick.
Basically, three types of ships.
Cruisers = tanks. Slow, soak up damage like a sponge, deals okay damage.
Escorts = damage dealers. FAST, not great about taking damage, deals wicked damage.
Science = buff/debuffers. Medium speed and damage, they do buffs and debuffs to make up for it.
I'll keep posting more info and pics as I get them! <3
