For humans, names might not have held the weight, the power they carried for Romulans, they were not without value, however. Anonymity offered itself as a cloak, comforting and dark in situations like this, but Leonard had tasted its falseness, the isolation woven within it.

A name, no matter how true or contrived, was at least this: a connection formed, a thread which anchored amidst the murky waters of assocations, reflections, projections.

And hers was a pretty one, singing across his tongue when he repeated it, breathed it against her neck, shivering under the warmth of her fingers.

"Leonard," he murmured close to her ear.

He had nothing to hide, after all. Not anymore.
