His level of enthusiasm was less to do with the gender-change and more to do with the fact that he hadn't realised just how accustomed he'd grown to their presence, and how much of a gap the disappearance had left. He hated to think of himself as the equivalent of a languishing, idiotically lovestruck puppy, but...well, damn it all if he hadn't been secretly, ever-so-slightly pining during their absence.

McCoy gladly allowed Spock to relieve him of his shirts, revelling in the feel of Jim's skin against his, Spock still at his back - he moved one hand to touch hers, stroking their fingers together in a way that he hoped didn't come across as too desperate but...in actual fact probably did.
