Jim was, frankly, delighted by the response though there was something faintly unfamiliar, unexpected, about Spock's presence in the bond. If he'd stopped to think, he'd have realized that Spock just wasn't like this, not without that blunt edge of neediness or uncertainty Jim was trying to erase.

But he hadn't.

He was still Jim, and the fact of a woman who was also Spock rubbing up against him made it unlikely he was going to protest on any score. Though he was still Jim, and the opening of the door did not pass unnoticed by even his heated senses.

He turned his head, still bent under Spock, and smiled. "Jim!" he said, making some effort to scramble to his feet, though Spock's strength and newfound clarity of purpose made that difficult. "Look, we're girls. Are Nero and Ayel girls? Is everyone safe? What happened?"

There was something oddly bubbly and yet straightforward about him, as if there were no incongruity in being suddenly a woman bent under another and yet retaining captainly authority.
