kirktastic: ((Sad Eyes Open) I don't want to tell you)

[Rifts in the Boredom of Forced Sick Leave] -- [Open]

Things had gone... interestingly the night of the party. The small memory put a smile to Kirk's face, despite his complete boredom and annoyance at still being trapped in his room. He could leave, he could walk around, but there was nothing he could do. Damn CMO's orders.

Even if, you know, he was sleeping with said CMO.

There was still a lot to be done, and damn if he was just going to sit back while it happened. Which had led him to sitting on his bed, naked from the waist up, leaning over a padd as he tried to figure out the exact time not one but two people had evidently gone missing from his god damn ship.

And getting no where fast expect to a headache.

Em thought about it. "Nah, he hated it when I tried Len on him. Or at least, the 15 year old him hated it. 'Momma, that's worse than Lenny!'" She shook her head at the memory. "God, when McCoy men team up against you, you don't stand a damn chance."

"Nah, like I told Monty, it's more than likely that someone took it and ran or it got dropped completely." She looked at her hands. "I was on my way home from the Vulcan Science Academy, a conference to get them on board with the research...we hoped to expand it to humanoids..."

An idea struck her. "Do y'all have a counselor? I'm not specified in psychology but my anthropology training gives me a pretty decent background in dealing with other cultures."

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-11-05 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Monty? It took a second before it clicked. Scotty.

Kirk rubbed his neck, listening, but the comment about the counselor struck him immediately. He looked to her, eyes bright and suddenly serious. "No, but yes. Yes, we could definitely use one."

He snapped, "We had someone," Harold, fuck.., "Getting training straight from Starfleet on the ship, you could do the same too."

Em blinked. "Oh, he said that I could call him either Monty or Scotty. Mr. Montgomery Scott? Does no one call him Monty?"

"Would I be qualified for Starfleet training? I never enlisted. Would I need to go back to Frisco for the Academy?"

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-11-05 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Never knew anyone to call him Monty." Kirk said lazily. "And.. yes and no. No, not having to go back. Yes, you qualify because you'll be coming under my crew and I fucking say so." He grinned lazily.

Well that was surprising. Was she the only one that referred to him as Monty? Em blinked again and laughed. "I'll tell ya, Starfleet boys were definitely not like you when I was still in Frisco. Glad they changed that. Will you send me the information? Lenny set up a room for me." She moved forward to hug him again but paused and retreated. "Sorry. I tend to hug a lot. Need to watch for that."

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-11-06 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Sorry," Though he really wasn't, "Just not a hugging sort of person. And ma'am, there's no one like me." Kirk grinned with that. "I'll make sure you get the information..." He thought about it, "And we'll use one of the empty quarters and set you up an office. Something a little less formal then sickbay?"

[identity profile] emma-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-11-06 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Em kept her hands to herself. "I'm sorry." she added again. "And I keep telling you, none of this ma'am business." She straightened up again. "And yes, a less formal setting pots most beings at ease. The idea of being home comforts them. Or the illusion of being home." She paused a bit.

"And how are you doin'? Are you restin' up like Lenny instructed?"

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm doing fine." Kirk offered another small grin, "Can't do much other then rest, right now. The Doctor keeps me from doing too much."

[identity profile] emma-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Em had to laugh. "Oh god, don't tell me he's swearin' up a storm and pepperin' "Damnit!"s everywhere. Has he given you the dangers of the world speech just yet?"

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Didn't need to give me that speech, Mrs. McCoy. He still curses up a storm and throws out lots of dammits." He laughed at her description.

She shook her head. "Like a damn carbon copy of David. Should've heard him on our way back from Guatemala. I think most of the people around us were shocked when they learned we got engaged shortly after."
