Kirk knew just how much his friend hated flying, and knew this trip was going to be a nauseous blur for Bones. The planet evidently needed Bones in the worst way, needed a doctor that could manage a cure for this plague that an enemy had unleashed upon them, and there was no one better then Bones.

He didn't want to order Bones to go. He didn't want them fighting. He had slipped into their room late enough that Bones was asleep and had found his peace in a few hours curled up against the other man's back, smelling bourbon and sweat and Bones.

...What the hell is wrong with me? I think... I'm falling for him. I don't do relationships. They mean monogamy and faithfulness and... and... shit. I don't want to hurt him. As if he wanted that. The last thing he needs is a tomcat for a boyfriend. Bones is smarter then that.

And got up before Bones had woken up.

He stood in the doorway to the hanger, watching the last of things being loaded. There was Bones, looking pale and sweaty and terrified already. A tiny smile quirked his lips, amused. It never failed to remind him of their first meeting. Space is disease and danger wrapped in silence and darkness, you told me. But now? My whole world's here.

He walked towards the doctor, a tiny smile on his lips.

I didn't want to have to send him off to some damn planet. Damn higher ups, pulling the rank card to get him. I want him here, at my back. It feels like there's this weird empty space that should be there but isn't. And... what happened in the shuttle bay...

Bones, just do your normal miracle thing and get back here. As soon as you left, I felt like something was wrong.
kirktastic: ((Kirk/Bones) Hurts and I need him here.)
[OOC: This post is some time AFTER Bones' attack. This is an open post to all!]

Kirk sighed from his office, glancing to the chronometer and decided that it was late enough. Nine hours since Bones' departure from the Enterprise. He knew Bones should have checked in by now, but the situation at the Juxta Colony had been a dangerous one. A war between two cilivizations, one dropping a plague on the other.

He was proud they had thought of Bones to be able to cure it.

He hated them for making Bones leave here and into a dangerous situation.

Kirk rubbed his eyes, knowing he needed to get some sleep but not having time. At this rate, he'd need another stimulant to get through the day and into the night. He reached over to the console at his side, fingers gliding through sequences.

"Communications, link me to the nearby Restin Planet and the Juxta colony."

"Yes, Captain." The male voice came through.

Kirk waited for a few minutes, and then started to frown. Finally, he commented, "...anything?"

"Sir I'm... not getting any response."

Kirk felt his heart stop in his chest.
