Jim sat, mirroring Kirk's posture though it was unclear whether it was intent or habit. Where to start? He watched his companion silently for a moment, taking him in. He looked tired, and troubled and young, and for once Jim wondered what others saw when they looked at him.
"I'm not sure they're worth that much," he said. "So what do we start with? My relationship hangups or your conflict of opinion with my first officer?" One of these topics was, obviously, of far greater import. But both were necessary.
