This little blip of a discovery did not impress Spock in the least. At least it wouldn't, if he had have a mind to criticize Jim's gutter-fallen mind.

And seventeen. Who stopped at seventeen? He could have taken three more to make a nice, round, whole twenty. He could have even taken it to thirty-four to make it something even (though whether he could have actually taken that many was something else to be seen). The possibility made him impatience, restless.

I will not. Spock argued back weakly, even in his mind's voice. But he wouldn't mind the relief. ...three more--? Twenty?
