[Need to Punch Something] -- [Kirk and Kirk]
Between finding out about Alex, finding out about Spot, and finding out that the bridge had gotten something from the planet below, Kirk was... well, frustrated wasn't quite the word. Stressed was definitely it, and there was one thing (other then alcohol, and he was refusing to go that low right now) that worked to get him ... okay TWO things including sex, but that wasn't (amazingly) on his mind either.
He wanted to punch something. Hard. Jim sounded like a good idea for a sparring partner right now.
With a fast comm to Jim, he had himself a sparring partner as he got off shift. He went back to his quarters and pulled on the same basic clothing he had worn back at the Academy when teaching classes - no formal gi, just loose shorts and a tee shirt.
He glanced around the gym, wondering if he had beat Jim there. When he didn't spot his counterpart, he found a flat, open spot and started to stretch out. Briefly, he wondered if pulling out safety equipment would be a good idea. At least the gloves. It'd keep his knuckles from ending up with bruises... and putting any on Jim.

He shook it off, for now, and scooted slightly so he was beside Kirk.
"Never mind," he said. "We don't have to be the same, or have the same reasons for being here. Enough that we're here, right? Doing our job. What matters is we're good at it." He grinned. "And look good doing it."

He smiled.
"Got a point, there." Damn, Jim looked good when he grinned like that, making him want to grin in return. He nudged their shoulders together, glad that they could even do this again. The tension was mostly gone.

"So we've got the away team thing mostly sorted," he said. "Anything else I should know about?"

(OOC: ...I'm assuming Kirk's talk with Tina hasn't happened yet.)

He wasn't about to tell him about Tina. Or his recent conversation with Len. Both of which had been taking up a lot of his thought lately.
"The usual," he said lightly. "Promiscuity and laziness." He paused slightly, and in a softer tone, continued, "I miss Spock."
[OOC - I have no idea when anything's happening anymore! Works for me.]

"He okay?" he said. "My Spock--I mean, I know they're not the same, the experiences are different, but I've got some baseline of comparison--he hardly ever asks for leave."

A glance up, "I got the feeling it's dangerous as hell to be doing, but... stopping him from doing it didn't seem like a good idea either."

"Why would you say that? If it's some sort of healing trance, and M'Benga probably knows this, you can always slap him."

"You know what?" he said. "No matter how liberal we might be, it is alien. We're out here amongst the unknown. Vulcans--Spock especially--included. I can't tell you not to worry. But I'm sure he'll be okay."

He wondered what the hell they were doing.
"Yeah," he said. "I didn't peg Uhura for the turn-a-blind-eye type. That's a lot to juggle, Jim."

"Sounds nice," he said.

"Sounds good," he said. He wasn't unaware of Kirk's hesitation, but he himself had never felt like he'd have refused an invitation at any point. So he was merely happy Kirk had asked, though troubled he'd been uncertain about it. "Mess, or would we attract too much attention via our combined animal magnetism?"
