[Private Communications] -- [And an OOC]

Private Communication to William Shatner ([livejournal.com profile] canadianbill):

Hope it's going okay. ...Haven't heard from you, so not sure if stuff just turned sour after our dinner-date or something. From how you reacted, I can only guess Leonard must have been pissed. I hope I didn't fuck up something between you two. Or... us.

Private Communication to Jim Kirk ([livejournal.com profile] original_finel):

Want to spar in the gym? I need to, thought you might need to, too.

Private Communication to Marlena Moreau ([livejournal.com profile] lt_moreau):

How you doing beautiful?

Private Communication to the Enterprise ([livejournal.com profile] 1_00110111_01):

Come show that gorgeous hologram around my quarters sometime, when you get a chance.

Private Communication to Spock (Female) ([livejournal.com profile] science_blues):

I think you and I need to talk, asap. Can you come meet me in my office at your first available chance? Thanks.

Private Communication to Sulu ([livejournal.com profile] hikaru_walter):

How you doing beautiful?

Private Communication to Pasha Chekov ([livejournal.com profile] mr_chekov):

...Things work out okay with your mother... Pashachka?

(OOC: Thanks to the notifications and therefore lack of, I'm pretty sure I've completely missed tags from people. If I owe anyone a tag on a thread from the recent two weeks or so, can you leave a little message here with a link? I just keep getting this ugly feeling I'm forgetting something!)

"Though the indicators in my name are, in fact, traditionally masculine," Spock explained, "my name is historically referential. The gender normatives are non-applicable in such cases."

Spock paused and arched a brow as she regarded the blonde. "I had not considered it," Spock prefaced evenly, a note of curiosity in her voice, "but does your native Spock possess a middle name?"

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-12-11 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
A middle name? Kirk blinked once, thinking about it. He almost said he didn't know, but something flickered at the edges of his consciousness. He let out a breath as he closed his eyes, and let the memories bubble up to the surface. "S'chn T'gai Spock. His full name." Pronounced accurately. Hard to forget, when the memory of the very man was floating around in his.

Spock's brow lifted another millimeter as the human reproduced the name. His pronunciation was accurate, worthy of a small incline of her head. Though, unfortunately, the information was not of particular, specific value.

"Yes, that is our shared familial name," Spock conceded, "However it is not a middle name. As it is nearly a non-practice on modern Vulcan, at least in my native plane of existence, I shall presume that he does not until provided the opportunity to question him further."

She really should have asked the other Spock, but it had not come up. Curious.

"Is there anything else you wish to know or discuss?"

Well, now... he just had to ask. "You must have one, then. What is it?" He asked curiously, giving her an interested look. He was no expert on Vulcan names, and no information came to his mind, so the exact depths of that knowledge escaped him.

"I do," Spock admitted placidly, "It is Gracen."

Spock was silent a moment, but Kirk's curious tone had implied a desire for knowledge. In the proverbial spirit of sharing, Spock decided to elaborate.

"My father insisted upon it, as a fashion of propagating his own familial name despite the adhesion to Vulcan naming convention. I was curious as to whether or not your native Spock's human parent had felt similarly."

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-12-11 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Gracen." It was... actually sort of pretty. Kirk grinned a little, "How about we call you that? ...Would you be okay with it? At least I could keep you and the other Spocks all on this ship separate from each other."

[identity profile] science-blues.livejournal.com 2009-12-11 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Spock blinked and regarded Kirk in silence as she considered his proposal. It had not occurred to her to suggest utilizing her middle name as a moniker. It was a reasonable suggestion and eliminated the implied inferiority of numerical designation.

It was logical.

"I have no objections to this solution," Spock responded thoughtfully, "Particularly if it will aid in your personal designation process."

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-12-12 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Gracen. I like it." He grinned, "And yes, it'll help." Kirk leaned forward in his seat, meeting her eyes. Same dark eyes... "We've gotten some sort of contact from the planet below. I want a full report of anything we can figure out before we head down there."

"Very well, I will assemble what I can," Spock agreed with an incline of her head. "If that is all, Captain, I will begin this task immediately. (http://kirktastic.livejournal.com/33958.html)"
