[We Interrupt Your Usual RP to Bring You... International Talk Like a Pirate Day!]

It was morning on the Enterprise, and it came with the slow creaking of wood deck around him, swelling in the heat of the morning, the sound of waves against the sides of the ship. Definitely a damn good way to wake up.

Even better was waking up between two warm bodies, one pressed to either side of him. On one side was his cabin boy, a young buck with a foolish head but a pleasing face and tongue. On the other, his first mate, a smug, stoic, uptight, ridiculously intelligent bastard who he had finally talked into ...sharing his bed. At least in the physical sense. He'd won the argument that the captain's bed was the most comfortable place on the ship, but anything beyond that was met with a pointed look and a reach for the sword hilt.

It was a damn good life here on the Enterprise.

He was Captain James T. Kirk of the pirate ship Enterprise, the most feared name on the open seas. He ran his crew with a mixture of charm, command, and the point of his sword. He was a good swordsman, a better brawler, and decent with a flint lock.

[OOC: This will be the ONLY pirate thread everyone, no multiple posts on multiple journals! Post just in here for this! Today only!]

on board the Kalon Kakon - George, Sam, and Bones

[identity profile] dctr-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
McCoy's position as ship's surgeon afforded him a small cabin of his own that served as his office and bed, and it was here that they brought George Kirk to rest. Not that the other's knew enough of recognize George Kirk on sight, but if the man started talking, who knew what sort of plans and plots the greedy devils might concoct.

Besides, Bones needed time to work on cleaning the rest of George's injuries. One thing he'd learned out on the seas - dirty wounds killed more people than guns and swords, on any ship he'd served.

He looked over at his captain, eyes boring into their captive. "What happened to the rest of your ship?" Bones asked, curious if the rumors were true, what they'd heard about the Kelvin.

George blinked up at the doctor, still bleary. He couldn't quite remember anything besides his name. "I...I'm off the island? I tried so hard..." He couldn't remember why he'd tried though. He just knew he had.

[identity profile] dctr-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Bones watched as Sam slid into a corner of the room, out of sight of the injured man. Maybe George Kirk would open up more if he thought they were alone in the room. "Yes, you're off the island," he told him, wrapping the man's broken ribs with tight bandages.

"We found you, and we're gonna fix you up. I'm Leonard, by the way, the ship's surgeon," he said as he tied off the bandage.

[identity profile] kirk-george.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm George," George said, assuredly. That much, he did know. He wasn't sure of anything else but. "I've been trying to leave...never could. Won't heal." Hadn't..."Can't leave...trapped."

[identity profile] dctr-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, you're safe now, with us," Bones told him. "And you'll be well soon, with some food and rest."

[identity profile] kirk-george.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
George shook his head, breath coming in gasps. Never leave, all trapped now. Couldn't leave, part of the curse. "No way out..."

[identity profile] dctr-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
Bones looked at the man, who looked practically petrified now. 'Hey," he said, resting a hand on the other man's shoulder. "You're safe now."

He finished cleaning the small wounds, applying some of his alcohol to this task after giving George another sip. "Why couldn't you leave?" he asked.

[identity profile] kirk-george.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Float right back....currents kept me here," George said, shivering. "built a raft once...couldn't die, couldn't leave, trapped." His gaze darted around the cabin wildly.

[identity profile] dctr-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
It was too much to believe, and Bones looked over at Sam, still quiet, still watching. "The rest of your crew?" he asked.

[identity profile] kirk-george.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
"My crew?" George frowned, trying to remember. "Had a crew..." His went soft. "Had...a wife? A...I can't remember."

[identity profile] dctr-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
"That's fine," Bones said softly, offering another sip of rum, then taking a sip himself. "Whatever you remember, just tell me. Things might come back to you," Bones said with a hope - the Kelvin was mythical amongst ships, and to find out what happened, maybe even find it? Would be amazing.

A knock at the door, and Bones jumped a little, glaring at the crew member who'd brought him a plate of pickled foods and smoked meat. "Here, eat this," he said, pushing the plate in front of George.

[identity profile] kirk-george.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
George ate it hungrily, small bites, time to chew...he knew better than to bolt it, even though it was the best thing he'd had in...ages. "I...the girl...she was pregnant. Screaming, so much blood...."

[identity profile] dctr-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Don't worry 'bout her," Bones told him, finishing up the last of the burns. It would take a few weeks, but George Kirk would survive and be well again - at least his body. The patient's mind had been twisted and tortured for, fuck, how long... twenty-five years?

A more superstitious man would have balked at the idea of this ghost of a man sitting in his room, but McCoy stopped believing in the supernatural that day a long time ago when he'd been shanghaied from a busy port city. He'd seen too much, traveling from port to port on various ships, voodoo and magick and human depravity, so if this guy said he was George Kirk, of the fucking Kelvin, lost twenty-five years ago, then Bones believed him.

He watched as George Kirk slowly ate, and sparing a glance up at his captain, wondered what price he would fetch - and would the Federation pay it...

[identity profile] kirk-george.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
George sat back once he'd eaten his fill, with a belch and wiped his mouth on his sleeve. He still didn't believe this was anything more than a hallucination. He'd had them before, even though lately the hallucinatory people had gotten less distinct, more...shapes. "So much blood...women ain't ought to bleed so much."

[identity profile] dctr-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"That happens sometimes," McCoy told him, his memories of childbirth hazy - he didn't often have to deal with that on board a ship such as this... "But now I want you to rest, so go lay down," he pointed at the bed, "and we can talk more when you wake up."

[identity profile] kirk-george.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
George glared at the doc. "I ain't be tired."

[identity profile] dctr-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"Just lay down then, and we can still talk." Bones cleared the table of his medical supplies, meager as they were. He kept a clean cabin. "Anything else you want to know?"

[identity profile] kirk-george.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, what ship I be on, Bones?" George demanded of the sawbones.

[identity profile] dctr-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"This is the Kalon Kakon, sailing the Seven Seas," McCoy told him with a sarcastic sort of flourish in his voice. "You're perfectly safe here with us."

[identity profile] kirk-george.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ain't never heard tell of it," George said dismissively. "So how'd they get a learned feller like y'self to on the ship? They acquire y' the usual way?" George fell into his habitual persona as three quarter's drunk and headed for a grand finale.

[identity profile] dctr-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"My first ship? Kidnapped out of a port city," Bones said, that day so long ago a hazy memory now. "I was stupidly drunk and talking too much to sailors in a bar. Woke up the next day at sea." Not the best time in his life.

"On this ship?" McCoy snorted. "Captain won me in a card game."

"Hope yer worth the money he musta lost on ye," George slurred, staring intently at Bones. "Ye sure are a pretty cuss though."

[identity profile] dctr-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Bones laughed, trying not to look at the expression on Sam in the corner of the room. "Thanks, Captain, but I earn my keep here as a doctor."

Anything else he gave the Captain was his to give, not expected as part of his job.

[identity profile] kirk-george.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"I been on the godforsaken island that long? Should show ye what a good C'ptin does with pretty docs like yisself," George snorted.

[identity profile] dctr-mccoy.livejournal.com 2009-09-19 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, you're not quite up to that, Captain," Bones chortled, giving him another sip from his flask. "Rest now and maybe tomorrow you can show me what I'm missin'."
