[Kirk's Quarters] -- [TOS!Spock and Kirk]

The private communication from Spock had come as a surprise. So now curious and concerned, Kirk waited in his quarters for Spock to come. What could Spock need to talk about so urgently that, evidently, had something to do with the fucking orgy they had had together?

Kirk got the first part quickly enough, but could keep the very faint blush that almost threatened to appear. Spock was very good at being ridiculously subtle about things while telling the person listening exactly what he meant -- when he wanted to.

"What do you mean exactly... the reso--" And it snapped into place. Kirk whispered a curse, "You mean like what you and I have. Because of our counterparts."

Kirk shifted in place, thinking for a moment, "Did he do it knowingly? Could it have been something that happened unconsciously?"

Spock nodded, slow and serious. "Rather like those bonds. Though not strengthened by friendship or... other activities.

It is probable the intensity of sensation alerted him to the thread of it - I do not believe he could have so consciously traveled the line of it in any manner other than deliberately.

He cannot do so now that I am aware of the potential for it."

"How do you know?" Kirk watched Spock closely. "If he was capable of doing this, how much do you know he can do?" He turned, pacing for a moment, "This sounds impossible. Reports of him having psychic powers and the like, but nothing has proven anything... but now you're telling me he's done what humans are supposed to..."

[identity profile] sehlatbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Do not turn him into a greater power than he is - he does what is commonly achieved among Vulcan bondmates. It is possible my own mates could perform a similar task if adequately trained. What is evident is that his own Spock has offered him extensive instruction in the use of their bond and the defense of his own mind.

For the rest, I am not without my defenses. I have protected myself, in the manner which I demonstrated both to you and your Spock.

But I see no reason to doubt it: he has called out to his mate. I have no indication yet that his mate has heard but..."

Spock seems reluctant to say what they both know to be true. If Pike has called out then the chances are good that his Spock has heard and would respond.

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"...I don't know if I'd be grateful or not that he got a hold of his Spock." Kirk rumbled, running a hand over his face. "Would you be able to know if the other Spock heard?"

A hesitation, "Can you... sense anything? That other Spock? Doesn't this bond go two ways? ...Can you find out what's going on in Pike's head?"

[identity profile] sehlatbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Spock raised both eyebrows, the most he would concede to surprise and distaste.

"I would not force myself into his mind."

Spock has the skill for such things. He would not cause undue injury. But he is not a rapist.

He could, however, follow the bond to the door and request interest.

"I wish to speak with him, with Pike."

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
That immediately set of a giant ass NO! in Kirk's mind. His fingers tightened as he forced down the thought and gave Spock a look, "To what purpose?"

[identity profile] sehlatbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
A valid question.

"He answered me honestly during our last interview. I would ask him if he was successful. Asking, rather than forcefully taking, seems the path to success."

Here Spock paused, considering.

"I would also like to inquire by what method his Spock taught him these things. Though that is rather more toward my personal edification than would make it a requirement."

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Silence. Kirk turned away from Spock, thinking. They needed to know if the man was successful or not so they could prepare for it. But... "...You're not allowed to go alone."

[identity profile] sehlatbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Given Kirk's earlier conviction to kill this Pike, it was a concession on his part to allow a visitation at all.

"I had not required 'alone' as a condition of speaking with him. Have you spoken to him?"

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"No." Kirk said quietly, frowning, "I have a feeling he'd act very differently with me there. Only around you and the other Spock does he drop any of his defenses."

[identity profile] sehlatbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Spock nods. This is true.

"It is, perhaps, a valuable thing to know for certain.

However, I must insist that I not be accompanied by my counterpart. I am comfortable with the minimal risk to myself. I would remind you of your promise regarding him."

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Do you think so little of me?" Kirk frowned towards Spock, unhappy. "I'm not letting him back down there, Spock. You don't need to doubt me about that. I don't really want to have you down there but... we're not gonna get anything out of him otherwise."

[identity profile] sehlatbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Spock has witnessed many difficult decisions made by captains. It is not that he thinks so little of James - but as well as he knows him, he does not know him and this is rather too important to trust without words.

"I think well of you, James.

Who, then, do you intend to accompany me?"

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"...I'll go with you. Sit just out of range of vision by the cell. I wanna hear this fucker with my own two ears." Kirk said after only a moment of thought.

He just had to restrain himself from punching the fucker out.

"I want those damn gloves away from him. I'll stun him and we'll remove them with a crow bar if necessary."

[identity profile] sehlatbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"You shall be an acceptable companion."

Spock looks at James, serious eye contact.

"He has not harmed me. I will not act against him to remove his gloves. I will attempt to convince him to remove them of his own free will, however."

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes, no, most of the time, he just didn't understand Spock. "He's more dangerous with those gloves, Spock. Don't you see that? He's a prisoner who's got a weapon."

[identity profile] sehlatbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
The thing that James Kirk did not seem to understand was that Spock saw the danger quite clearly. Saw it and was not convinced to alter his principles of nonviolence. The risk was acceptable. It was the logical course.

"I am aware of the danger, James. It does not alter my conviction."

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Slowly Kirk rubbed his brow, sighing aloud. "Fine. Sometimes, I don't understand you, but fine. Long as you don't get hurt. He tries one damn thing and he'll be on the ground so fast he won't know what hit him."

[identity profile] sehlatbear.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"That is an acceptable compromise.

When do you wish to conduct our interview?"

[identity profile] kirktastic.livejournal.com 2009-08-25 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"..." Kirk closed his eyes, thinking about his schedule in his mind. They're already headed out with orders in hand. "We can go now. It should be quiet." The less people that knew where they were going, the better.
