[Risa, Day 3] -- [Suraya Bay] -- [Spock and Kirk]

After making plans with Spock and definitely having worked on his tan, Kirk showered, got himself cleaned up, and dressed. A casual sort of button up shirt and dark jeans, something simple and easy for vacation, but if the place was a little fancier, it'd be fine buttoned up fully. He left the top buttons open, for now.

Without the cycle swiped by Bones, Kirk left early so he could walk into town. Not a long walk, about fifteen minutes, but it was made easy by getting a ride from a group of very lovely ladies. He made his goodbyes (not before slipping them his comm information with a promise for fun), and walked along the boardwalk. Almost on intuition, thinking about the dream last night, he stopped in a store briefly and made a quick purchase. With the bag in tow, he headed for the bay proper and looked for Spock.

"Some of Vulcan." Kirk said lightly, but his eyes closed as he remembered it. "All..." He put his hand up at an angle, "Rocks, huge ones, shaped like that. Mountains in the distance. A stone balcony with several seriously uncomfortable looking chairs. The nar'ru in the corner... there's a glass door with curtains separating the house and the balcony."

Without a doubt, it was a setting he was familiar with, a place he had sat to look up the stars, much like he was doing now. Finally, he took his first small bite of the strawberry he held. He had to savour this last one. "You would be overlooking The Forge." Thinking about that canyon brings up vivid memories of both his kahs-wan and his Rite of Tal'oth; he closes his eyes at the remembrance, and his brows narrow slightly.

"It was beautiful." Kirk said so softly he wasn't even sure it was heard. "So alien but... like it was home." It was home. A part of his heart called it home, but he didn't know how to explain that to Spock in the least.

Spock heard it, over the soft crash of the waves against the rocks. "...At least you were able to see a portion of it." Since it was gone, now, only saved in memories, including those Jim wasn't supposed to have.

"I wish I could have seen it all." Kirk looked to Spock, just from the corner of his eye. Another human, he would have reached out and squeezed the other's shoulder. But... it was Spock. But, then again... he thought of the dream.

And took a chance. He did exactly that, giving Spock's shoulder a light squeeze. He knew that pain, somehow, impossibly. Emotional transference, it had been called.

His eyes opened at the touch, and it was as much surprise as he showed. He glanced down at the hand on his shoulder, and then up at Jim. His own telepathy was carefully guarded through the fabric of the shirt, but it still brought it's own...comfort. "Likewise."

"Someday, you'll have to tell me more about it all. Only way Vulcan can stay alive is in our memories." Kirk murmured, not even fully realizing what hint he was giving away in his words.

He thought of another place, another time, a desperate situation, and warm fingers on his face.

Our. Spock was rather sure that he should be noting something about his words, but he felt more content to let it go for now. He'd analyze it later, when Jim wasn't around to confuse him further.

"...I look forward to the next opportunity."

"Still up for having dinner?" Kirk asked, "...otherwise, I'm gonna watch the stars." He was honestly happy either way. It felt... nice, like this. Spock's warmth at his side, talking like friends instead of enemies at worst and captain and first officer at best.

He thought about it as took another bite out of the strawberry, slowly chewing before swallowing. "It would be beneficial if I consumed food other than chocolate and berries this evening." The same would hold true for humans, but Spock wanted to ensure that he when he woke up tomorrow morning, he'd be able to do something besides mope on the balcony with a headache.

That made Kirk laugh and he nodded. "Come on, then. Let's get going then." He grabbed the container and empty bottle and put them in the bag and stuff up gracefully, then turned and offered his hand to Spock instinctively.

Later, he would rationalize his decision as ninety-nine-point-three percent an effect of the chocolate, and the last point seven percent as a temporary insanity brought on by reminiscence, a long day. His barriers were up, anyway; the most Jim would get would be a feeling of being mildly pleased. Spock took his hand and used it to stand.

There wasn't any lingering tingle as he casually released the grip.

"Come on.. let's go." A very soft, warm smile for the Vulcan, just for a second, then it dissolved into his normal grin. "Wanna try the calamari you mentioned."

He nodded once, and they started off towards the main shore and the lagoon nestled just behind it. Under the two moons and the stars, the white sand of the beach held an almost ethereal quality to it, extending in either direction around the mountainous shoreline of the island. While he had no intention of trying the calamari himself, he had heard of certain things they did with large native orchids that he was particularly interested in...
